Clean ,friendly staff good food all at a reasonable price will be back
Staff were very friendly. Hotel a bit run down
Good clean hotel for the money , good food, decor very dated but rooms were clean & warm
Nice hotel, only issue was a shop alarm went off for the whole night we were there
Lovely place with lovely friendly staff
Spotless hotel..Staff and food excellent would highly recommend
Second time we’ve stayed down in the Hibernian and first time with our baby. The staff are phenomenal and will do everything and anything they can for you. Food was fabulous! Only thing I’d say is the room was a little bit too small for us with a baby, but not a big deal we just know to ask for a bigger room next time. We can’t wait for our next trip down to the Hibernian!
Room small, & the tea making facilities were in a small dark corner. En-suite very nice but only one bath towel. Breakfast wasn’t organised properly, tables not cleared, no orange juice in the jug, no ketchup, no glasses for orange juice & no milk in the jug for cereal. No teaspoons on the table. No one asked for our room number or showed us to our table. Anyone can walk in of the street & have a free breakfast. Not enough staff & no organisation.
This hotel was suitable for our needs at this time. It was warm and clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the leisure centre and the food was really nice too.
I would not recommend for families We were floor 1 & we were woken up alot of times by room up above us Friday night & sat night we could here loud banging from pipes in bathroom all through the night had very bad night's sleep both nights in this hotel Hotel itself was cold Staff nice
Food service was good fir dinner and breakfast. Bar service was terrible. Staff were avoiding serving residents and preferred to serve the locals! Cleaniness of hotel could be improved. Was glad I hadn't paid full price for room
Very comfortable hotel.we had both breakfast and Dinner in hotel and was very nice.my only complaint as someone with back problems is the car park is up a hill at the back of the hotel.will defo stay again
Very comfortable friendly hotel
Couldn't fault the hotel but the food was absolutely shocking ordered a steak sandwich and it came as a lump of steak on bread no sauce was very disappointing
Stayed for 2 nights with the girls for a birthday.. found on arrival the receptionist a bit rude, barely greeted us no information etc, handed the key & said that’s your room number! Our room was just way to hot it was uncomfortable.. window you could only open a tiny bit! Got a fan from reception & it barely worked.. while in the bar was just awful.. service wasn’t great got our food & no cutlery etc.. had to ask for our drinks.. the bar service was terrible I stood at the bar for 1 drink for 15 minutes!! i wouldn’t mind if it was busy but it wasn’t! Staff very slow.. my friends asked for a certain cocktail & they actually waited 25 minutes or more for it! We were actually going to leave at that stage! The man said he couldn’t do it! & needed to get someone else! non experienced staff! Standards low for a hotel. Breakfast was nice & bar food ok. Lesuire centre was lovely.
Friendly clean hotel
Staff was very friendly, room was clean and nice ..I'm sure I come back again
We didn’t have a great experience with this hotel at all. I rang the hotel at 11.30am on the day of arrival to book in dinner as we had 3 rooms booked and a total of 5 adults and 5 children so felt we should ring ahead and book. Which I did and was fine dinner was booked for 8pm. When we go to the hotel and checked in we went to go get ready and head for dinner when we got down they mixed up our dinner reservations and had no room for us all so put us upstairs in the garden it was really cold so we asked to be put inside somewhere. We were then brought into the breakfast room and put there where we had to go out and remind them we were there to come take our order. We just ate and went to bed. Next morning at breakfast the lady was very rude an we felt like we were an inconvenience to her again we were put down in a corner of the breakfast room when we went to get our breakfast there was very little choice when I asked if anymore food was been out on j was simply told NO. Another member of our group just asked for beans and toast she was given a small scoop of beans and told the toast would follow. It did follow but about 15mins after she got the beans. We just checked out and left the hotel to go eat somewhere else.
Had a fantastic stay with Family. From check in to check out the staff couldn't do enough for you. The room was Fab and we loved the beer garden. Will diffently return.
Everything was seamless and the staff were lovely
Hotel could do with a update and some TLC the staff were so nice and very helpful room very clean food excellent just a face lift and it would bring it up to date
Hi had a lovely time in your hotel great service food good will b back again real soon thanks a lot for everything
Bedrooms need updating. Paint peeling off the walls. Really shabby bathroom. Although the room was clean. Pool was nice. Food was very good. Bear garden was lovely too. Shame the rooms let the hotel down.
Hotel is well located and mallow is great for shopping breakfast was lovely and the bar menu is excellent only fault l seen was some of the bar staff were very slow on serving you and clearly away the table's
We had the family room was a lovely stay kids had a ball food was lovely staff were lovely will definitely be back again
Hotel and rooms very dated but staff were lovely. Leisure centre was fantastic and garden pool bar was a great spot for dinner and drinks in the hot weather. In the centre of the town so close to everything.
Fantastic stay for a fantastic price , the staff in the bar were so friendly and the girl Tracy on the desk was so nice and helpful
Really enjoyed out stay great room bed very comfortable. Great leisure centre. Very friendly staff.
Nice hotel in the town centre near to everything comfortable room
We had a lovely time. All the staff were really nice particularly the girl who served our meal in Friday evening, our request for 1 of our rooms to be close to the lift, well the room couldn't have been any closer, thank you, the reception and cleaning staff where all really nice and the rooms well sized. We where 4 generations and everyone was happy from the 81 year old to the 7 year old. Thank You
Staff were so nice and friendly, very homely vibes, will be back.
Very nice stay and good breakfast
Staff were so nice and friendly, very homely vibes, will be back.
This is out 3rd stay with the hibernian Hotel mallow and we booked it this time 4 months in advance as it was a few days away to celebrate my oldest daughters communion and in order to secure a specit room layout. When we arrived at 5pm on Tuesday we check in and had not been given the requested room and they were fully booked so couldn't change our room. I was livid as it was the only reason we booked this hotel coz it is an hours drive from both activities we had planned. We then couldn't get out youngest daughter to sleep coz in stead of having the 2 separate areas in the room we requested we were all OK top of each other and the heat was cruel with only one small window in the room which was overlooking a purpose built fence about 2ft x 5 ft outside the window blocking all light Intonthe room. We got no sleep at all then coz after finally getting my 2 Yr old to sleep then at 2am a group of guest took to singing banging doors playing loud music until 5am. I will never stay here again.
Lovely hotel which is in an excellent location. Breakfast was very nice and the staff I dealt with were very helpful. Rooms clean and pool great too. All in all a very good hotel!
It was a nice hotel and we would go back again, the staff were very nice and the rooms and the hotel were clean and well presented
Loved it all, great hotel!
The hotel staff were really not friendly ????, especially breakfast service and staff were very very poor( except spa staff were very good,****), breakfast itself was ok, but could be much better. The hotel is very old and it's really needs more care.????
Lovely good value for the money staff Lovely food very good
Friendly and pleasant staff. Good food, beautiful outdoor bar. Good breakfast
The room was too hot had to ask staff to turn off heating twice in my room and it still came on no sockets to charge phone near the bed had to leave the windows open all night because of the heat and the noise of the generator kept me awake the 2 nights
It was okay as in value for money. The bar staff were lovely but very busy. We asked them to wipe down the table and they never came back to do it. It also took them a good while to clear away dinner plates and glasses etc.
Really enjoyed the hotel good food nice room with a view hope to stay again real soon thanks again a bit of music would b nice in bar
Great hotel lovely staff very friendly nice clean hotel would recommend it to my friends and would come back again
Hotel very central to everything being on main street. Food was nice and reasonably priced. Hotel very dated, could do with major face lift. Especially carpets and painted
Sat in the beer garden on Saturday afternoon/ evening big crew of us lovely bit of food and the staff where brilliant best staff I’ve seen in awhile looked like they enjoyed there job defo be back thanks
from the moment we checked in staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly and made us feel so welcome. special thanks to keelan and owen in the bar who went above and beyond for us and our children. also lady in the leisure was sooo friendly and went above and beyond for us.room was newly renovated and was spacious and clean. the only negative we experienced was breakfast. wasn’t the best selection and also there was a large football group and staff were busy attending to them and we had to keep trying to get staff attention for tea, toast etc. but aside from this we had an amazing time at the hotel and if we are ever down that beat again we would definitely stay
Bedroom needs updating and was very warm even through we turned the radiator off. However its a lovely hotel , quiet at night , very accessible and central to town. An excellent breakfast and dinner, The staff are very friendly and helpful . We had a great stay!!
Rooms were shocking, myself and my partner for a single bed each. Bathroom looked like a closet more than a bathroom. Food wasn’t great it was room temp. Would not be staying here again
Beautiful hotel and staff were so helpful.
Nice pool, but hotel needs updating.. Nice garden room, but is not elderly friendly to get too.But I have to complement the Staff. They are excellent. Won’t be returning
We arrived at the hotel after requesting a cot for the room, when we got to the room a travel cot was in the room with a paper thin mattress my boy couldn't sleep on it... We went for carvery lunch and the dinners were both cold and had to be reheated... Breakfast the following morning was also cold. My boy has additional needs and couldn't sleep
We enjoyed our stay room was lovely and clean a bit small but clean, swimming pool great dinner was fab breakfast ok
A very friendly welcome and pleasant smiley staff throughout. We ate dinner in the hotel - food was delicious and service was on point. This was a family visit so we had 2 rooms. Both were very clean, however one was in an older part of the hotel and could do with an upgrade. That said, we would stay again if the occasion arose. A nice hotel in a pretty country town
AMAZING STAFF. SMALL ROOM BUT CLEAN. LOVELY FOOD IN BAR BUT BREAKFAST WAS COLD WHICH WE HAD TO GET REHEATED. COFFEE WAS ALSO COLD AND TOAST WAS JUST WARM BREAD. VERY DISAPOINTED WITH BREAKFAST
Friendly staff, lovely warm rooms and very central. Because of recent extension at the hotel, I got lost a few times, had to go through the gym to get to my room.
We really enjoyed our one night stay, from the friendly welcome at reception to the great atmosphere in the bar. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty, I particularly loved the porridge. The staff at breakfast could not be more helpful and the accomodation staff were so frienldy when we were on our way to reception to check out. Overall a perfect stay made all the nicer by the lovely staff!
nice hotel clean good staff handy for car parking
It was my 40th birthday not done by hotel and our room was cold and we waited up for night porter and no one came
Good location. Leisure centre was impressive. Nice ambiance.
Great value for money
Hotel Leisure centre, bar and restaurant good. Overall room basic and slightly grubby in the bathroom. Overall OK...
The room was clean and tidy but the bed was far too soft, the staff were friendly and polite ,food was good apart from breakfast which was lukewarm to cold on both occasions, biggest complaint was the horrendous noise from the boiler system waking us up both mornings at 6.15 especially when we were there to relax .management said they would be in touch but have not ,very unprofessional, not impressed.
Really enjoyed staying here, the staff were very polite and helpful, the meals were outstanding and the location is perfect. One tiny quibble was that the plastic door handle on the bathroom in my room wasn't in keeping with the lovely brass socket surrounds :)
The hotel was very clean. We had both Carvery and bar food and both were good quality tasty and great selection and good value. The staff were very pleasant and helpful
Very nice hotel, good food, access to the leisure center, enjoyed our stay. Though there is some room for improvement, hence the 4 stars. Family rooms could also have a bit bigger bin.
We stayed 2 nights got the family room at a cheap rate you get what you pay for. family room was big enough for 4 of us but dated the whole hotel could do with decorating very shabby. Pool is ok bit of a pain you've to either leave hotel to walk around or walk through the gym were people are working out to get to and from pool. The full Irish breakfast was cold only thing made fresh if you ask for poached eggs it was all re heats very disappointing, So we only had breakfast there once, went to McDonald's which is across the road for breakfast. Staff are lovely and friendly but would not stay at hotel again
Brill night with my 3 kids. They loved the family room….. was like 2 rooms in one. Netflix worked great. Very relaxed pool staff.. let us stay in the pool for as long as we wanted. Lovely cosy hotel with friendly staff and great value
We checked in after 3 and were told to contact the leisure centre to book in. Rang repeatedly to no answer arrived at the leisure centre to find out they had closed since 4. Rang at 9am the next morning and no availability until after check out. The restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was very good however.
We had a lovely stay here. Fab location. Food was excellent. Clean and comfortable hotel. Definitely be back.
Thank you once again, Irish Mini Breaks!!!
Thank you once again, Irish Mini Breaks!!!
Staff were lovely and the food was tasty, pleasant stay
Thank you once again, Irish Mini Breaks!!!
Really enjoyed the 2 night 3 day hotel break in The Hibernian Hotel, Mallow. Town Centre, free parking at the rear of the hotel. Reception v friendly. We had 2 Family rooms booked, clean, spacious, wifi, loads TV channels, warm, plenty hot water. Good breakfast and staff v friendly and helpful in the Cafe. Had few drinks in the bar each nice and the barstaff were v good. Didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the food. Fine big well equipped leisure centre. Gym had loads of machines and free weights - we had a few teenagers in our group and they loved the gym. Nice clean good sized pool along with a jacuzzi, stem room and sauna. With Covid you had to book the pool/gym. Right in the town centre which had some great shops. Mallow Castle and grounds is lovely (even in the middle of Nov! :-)
The Hibernian Hotel is perfectly situated in Mallow, close to all shops, bars and restaurants. It has a very cosy atmosphere, the staff are young and eager to please, and the rooms are warm and comfortable. It is an old hotel with a new bar/restaurant that serves delicious meals and good pints. I will be staying there again on my return.
Stayed here for 2 nights with my daughter as a pre Christmas treat. We used the leisure centre 3 times during our stay. Every single member of staff we came into contact with could not have been more helpful or accommodating. We ate in the bar one evening and the cafe another day, the food was wonderful and our dietary requirements looked after without problem. The hotel itself was spotless with sanitisation a priority throughout. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff, well done to all of you, we will certainly return. Thank you all.
Nice hotel lovely staff would recommend this hotel for a breakaway ????
The staff are absolutely fantastic. So friendly and accommodating. Our family room was very spacious. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean.
Hotel is tired! Even though we were residents we could not get a table in the bar. Half empty. Lot of tables reserved but empty for hours! Bad form when you can’t sit in the bar where you a resident!
Very helpful and friendly staff, room was very clean and comfortable and the food was delicious
Hotel was clean put loud. We ate in the restaurant/pub service was awful 6 working behind the counter and repeatedly had to ask to get drinks and order food. A staff member took our food order and after we had finished eating Noone not once came over to see if we needed anything or were we finished. I had to ask for the table to be cleared! Customer service was just not up to scratch… except for the receptionist who was lovely and helpful!!
Booked into this hotel as the kids wanted a swimming pool. We rang before we booked and asked about the pool times as we knew with covid restrictions that time slots might be allocated, we were told to book the swimming pool the day we check in. We checked in at 3pm and were told that the swimming pool had no space for the rest of the day so we had 2 cranky kids for the entire night. Room and breakfast was nice
Lovely hotel great food good location
What wonderful staff more than helpful and working so hard with a smile nothing was a problem for them food was amazing leisure Centre re booked us for pool due to us being late with a toddler this hotel is great and very responsible
Cheap basic hotel. Breakfast was nice pool was lovely. Bar food was OK not great. Pool was up lot of steps so not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties or elderly. Room clean and modern decor but very stuffy only 1 very small window opening.
Lovely friendly staff, great food,& good drinks menu, perfect location, room was a bit dated & noisy as were over a smoke area. Got this room on offer & would return again if got same deal.
good service in these difficult times
Fantastic hotel brilliant staff lady at the desk was excellent bar staff excellent breakfast staff excellent not so gud on the Monday morning but excellent Tuesday morning but we will b back
Staff very good rooms clean and food good not much in the town
Charming hotel with lots of character. Really nice and helpful staff. Modern and well equipped leisure centre too.
Rooms were very spacious and clean. Nice variety for breakfast. It was right in the centre of town, close to shops and restaurants.
The staff were friendly and the room was clean. I enjoyed the trip
The hotel is in a great location, the staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms very well kitted out bed very comfortable. The bar food was very good.
This hotel is situated in the heart of the town of Mallow and very convenient to all the town has to offer. The staff were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Our room was very clean though the TV was on the small size. The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed the wonderful leisure centre. Overall, this hotel is a real gem, and we would recommend it without hesitation.
We booked 4 rooms as a family break, the photos online do nothing for this hotel, it's fabulous. Extremely friendly staff, food is gorgeous, hotel is clean, pool lovely, will definitely be returning
We stayed for 1 nights in mallow, the hotel is in the centre of the town, it was lovely and clean, maybe a little bit dated. The staff were friendly and polite. Had our dinner in the bar food was excellent, the only negative thing is we waited a hour for our breakfast as the waitress was on her own, it wasn't her fault, I think you could have had more staff on especially as with the covid there's no buffet any more. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
We as a family were in Cork to Bury our mum, her final wishes were to go home to be buried. The hotel treated us with great respect. The staff were excellent, the rooms were lovely and cosy and clean. I would highly recommend this hotel
We loved everything about our stay in the Hibernian hotel especially the staff so helpful, rooms very comfortable and extremely clean food very good , and Mallow a nice place to visit ón behalf of my companions thank you Peter Brannigan
Food and staff were lovely hotel itself is tired, rooms are too hot & one bath towel for 3 people. Found used face creams Pearl's on the service tray beside the kettle & not curtains were dirty and grubby. Attention desperately needs to be paid to cleaning especially at this time. No extra pillows and pillows there were flat. Throw on the end of the bed had all stains on it
both my partner and my son stayed at the Hibernian Hotel Mallow for 2 nights recently. I can honestly say that it was one of the best hotels we have ever stay at. Everything was just perfect, great staff as well as great food the service we received was top notch. We enjoyed ourselves so much that when I got home I told my daughter about the hotel and we decided to book next weekend, both ourselves and my daughter along with our grandchildren are staying for two nights. PS. I would just like to say a big thank you to all the management and staff especially a lady called Megan behind the bar. Regards
Really enjoyed the stay. Everything was excellent
Very nice hotel friendly staff food top class room nice and clean only one small complaint the breakfast service was poor although the food was cooked to perfection would recommend it to everyone
Really enjoyed our stay... Staff was excellent very friendly and helpful. No issues except for dirty spoons in room but overall lovely. Room 27 could do with sprusing up in terms of style. Would definitely stay here again.
Excellent hotel. Staff and hotel were great. Would definitely stay here again.
A good affordable hotel. the food is great
In order to access the swimming pool I had to first go up then down 8 steps with a infant in a buggy. Then go through the gym with it to access the swimming pool. The swim was enjoyed after the trial to get there. The following day as we passed the leisure centre coming from town we asked to use the toilet in which our reply was we can't allow people coming in off the streets to use the facilities. Our reply to that was we are residents. Oh OK. And we proceeded. The doors of the rooms needs a complete revamp. The are faulty. Also the bar and restaurant staff were the most courteous of them all. We got no check out or breakfast time details at check in. Receptionist was very vague with any town information she gave us. We were returning quests
Booked a night away with my two little girls, they were so excited after being cooped up.at home for long during lockdown. The room was perfect for us, the pool was fantastic and every staff member we met and dealt with were friendly and professional. Had a lovely supper and breakfast. Great base for exploring cork county. Look forward to the next night away at the Hibernian.
Rooms where big and clean. Food was lovely and the staff very helpful and friendly, especially kathleen. Pool clean also. Would go back.
My stay in the hibernian was really relaxing staff was great couldn't do enough for me . Food was lovely and reasonably priced . The room was spotless very spacious loads of room . I cant wait for my next visit
Staff were lovely and helpful room was basic but clean breakfast was lovely tele in the room was tiny and barely no channels as I had my 2 grandchildren with me to entertain them overall enjoyable night away
Lovely hotel with very friendly staff and great food xx
We stayed here 2 night's. The Bar in the hotel was lovely. Food was great and staff were friendly. The Rooms let this hotel down alot. Very very dated, small and quite dark. Carpet and furniture seems like it has been around for a long time. Could really do with being updated. When we checked in we were handed a sheet with times on it. nothing really explained about breakfast dinner etc. Figure it out for yourself and when we checked out we weren't even asked how our stay was which is pretty unusual for a hotel. Overall it was fine for what we wanted as we done some sight seeing but I probably wouldn't stay here again unless the place was updated.
The room was nice and thats all. The staff had an appalling attitude. I wasn't able to check in at 2.30pm even tho I rang to double check it was a 2pm check in (being told to go and buy a drink from the bar while I waited) and then got rushed out the room at check out as it's only 12pm check out at weekends (despite there being no information regarding check out on their website and booking.com saying 12pm). The bar also have an awful smell in it the whole time.
Very comfortable bed and quite room Hotel staff VERY helpful and friendly. Food excellent. Parking very good. Overall a most pleasant experience and we will be back.
Good staff esp in Leisure center. Food excellent. Free parking and WiFi which was great. Seems to be lots of parties so room was a little noisy and basic and warm. I guess it depends on the room
What a shame this hotel does not reflect its web page stayed on 19/20 march on check in person on reception had poor english and was not very helpful had to ask other guest how to get to our room .Room was very basic and wuit dated and not what there web site portrayed .Room heat could not be adjusted and was far too warm .Would not stay there again .Breakfast was typical cooked at 7 for the day .
I would rate the hotel as a 4 for food and cleaniness. I cannot rate the leisure centre as i was staying for a funeral and didnt use the facility. . The rooms were small but did the job i needed. The room had all the facilities required for a short stay break and i would rate them a 3. Staff were very friendly at breakfast
I stayed in I presume a standard room at the Hibernian on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th with my husband. The hotel itself was lively and food was good but the bedroom was well below standard. The carpet was so dirty I did not walk on bare feet. The curtains were hanging off the window, lampshades crooked and bust. Furniture peeling. The bathroom was disgusting. It was about 40 years old and looked like it had never seen any type of an update. The smell in there was of old damp rotten wood. The TV in the bedroom was the size of a postage stamp with an awful buzz off it when the volume was turned up. I would not stay here again ever nor recommend it. I did mention this on check out and I am still waiting on a call/email from the manager. If you could see a photo of the bedroom/bathroom you would never check in.
The hotel was in a good location, old and dated but clean and the breakfast was fab. I would stay there again. however, I would ask for a room on the lower floor as we were near the leisure on the top floor and were woken by the booming music and the room was quite far from the lift. Otherwise it was great!
I found this hotel a huge disappointment, firstly I had read online they had a nightclub so I rang before my arrival and asked for a room away from the night club and was assured I would receive one. On arrival the room was extremely run down with curtains falling of rails the sink had come away from its holder in parts and the carpet was filthy. I went to reception and explained I was not happy and I was told they had no other rooms free that night but we would be moved in the morning. After that we went down to Their Blackwater Restaurant to get food, The food was lovely and so where the surroundings it’s only been freshly refurbished and it showed, but the service was terrible after our main courses we waited 35 minutes trying to get a servers attention to get dessert but they never came near us despite serving both tables either side of us so after waiting all that time we got up paid and left. On our return the room we discovered that in fact we were right above the night club and the room was vibrating from the music, after me being assured on the phone earlier that day that I was nowhere near it. The next morning we were moved to one of their refurbished room and it was like going from a €10 a night hostel to a 5 star hotel, I could not fault this room it was gorgeous. All in all the hotel not put people into the rooms that haven’t been refurbished until there done as its totally deceiving as they only show pictures online of the refurbished rooms.
We ate in the restaruant on the saturday night and the food was lovely as was all the staff. We also ate in the bar and this was also lovely and very well presented. Our room was fine, nice and warm and could do with a lick of paint, but i noted a sign saying "sorry for inconvenience during renovations" so maybe this will be done. It was a great location, central to the town, had its own car park which was great. Great to see ithat there were loads of locals in the bar on the friday night so obviously its a great place to have a drink and a night out. The price of the accommodation was very reasonable and overall very good accomodation for the price.
Food was first class, evening meal and breakfast. All the staff were more than courteous, friendly and helpful. The bedrooms could do with updating and just a bit of TLC - but other than that we enjoyed our stay. Janet + friends
The service, the staff could not be faulted, the rooms could be upgraded in particular the en-suite. The shower did not have much power and the toilet cistern took for ever to fill
