What a great time we had. Used the bypass to find it and it was straight forward after that. Food in the evening was just yum. Restaurant manager was very helpful with all of my party. Breakfast was also of a very high standard. Staff couldn't be nicer. As a chef I was watering at the mouth when all the food was presented. Rooms were if very high standard. Had family rooms and double rooms. Loved it

Norman scored 4 / 5 on 03/12/2013

Spent one night in the Hotel on 30th November and really enjoyed it.The main asset the Hotel has is its friendly staff. The girls at reception were naturally friendly and the restaurant staff even more friendly. The food is top quality also.Hold on to those chefs. The room we had was quite dated but they are refurbishing the Hotel and I assume that all rooms will be included in the work.Saying that, our room was spotlessly clean and the shower really powerful. We had paid for breakfast but didn't make the 1030 deadline so I cant comment on that. There wasn't any rush in leaving the room by midday as we left at 1pm.I didn't get to the Leisure facilities. The only complaint I would have is that there seemed to be somebody giving piano lessons from 10am on Sunday morning in a room on our floor which interrupted our lie-on.I could have done without having to listen to piano keys that early following a late night. All said,I would highly recommend this Hotel.

Ciara scored 4 / 5 on 08/11/2013

Really nice hotel on the outskirts of Limerick City. We had 2 Nights Bed and Breakfast with 1 dinner and it was great price. The hotel is being refurbished and the downstairs was really nice. The bedroom was a bit dated but they just hadn't got around to updating them yet. There are notices in the hotel to excuse their appearance, we were not disturbed at all because of the works. The hotel staff were really nice. The spa was great. We had a facial and massage and it was lovely.

Corcaighdearg scored 4 / 5 on 30/10/2013

Hotel looks fantastic from the outside. The rooms and corridors were a little worn looking, and maybe when finances generally get better again they will get a revamp. The room was comfortable, the beds were too, and it was spacious. The wi-fi worked at a good speed. The reception desk staff were friendly. The hotel is a little far out so if you don't have a car it would be awkward to come and go from I am guessing. The breakfast is the standard fare you get in Ireland these days but i have to say that at least the fry up was tasty and not sitting in a pool of grease like some other hotels i have experienced lately. We did not use the restaurant for evening meals nor the bar so i can't comment on them, but the bar looked inviting. There didn't appear to be anything on for the kids regarding entertainment, and i would have thought there would be as we stayed on the bank holiday halloween weekend. I would recommend this hotel generally.

Enjoyable stay at Castletroy Park Hotel recently. The staff were friendly and unflappable, service was good. The rooms were a little colourless with beige decor, however, there is refurbishment under way at present. Great value at €49 euro for bed and breakfast plus 2 course dinner. Food excellent. I would definitely stay there again.

Allie scored 4 / 5 on 08/10/2013

Wonderful service and superb food. Booked it through lidl breaks and it was excellent value. I thought the pool and showers could have been a bit cleaner. Overall, will definitely return.

Peter scored 4 / 5 on 01/10/2013

We really enjoyed our stay. I was a little concerned when we arrived at the hotel; because it appeared to be in the middle of what seemed like an industrial estate, which is not the impression you get from the website. The hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment but the lobby and bar and restuarant are lovely. The carpets on the "nd floor were in need or repair but I'm sure thats part of their plan. Our room was fine, but the heat in the room and the hotel in general at times was almost unbearable. We ate in the bar twice for dinner and once for lunch and the food was really fantastic. the babyback ribs on the Friday night were stunning. The staff were all really nice and helpfull

Ms scored 4 / 5 on 01/10/2013

Staff in hotel were very warm, welcoming and very helpful. The hotel is currently being refurbished, and there was no disruption what so ever. The refurished area are tastefully done. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed in Castletroy Park for one night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. Bedroom, Leisure Centre and general Hotel facilities are very good. All staff that I encountered during my stay were very friendly and helpful especially the Receptionist who was excellent. Menu and food in the Restaurant at both breakfast and Dinner was also excellent. Looking forward to a return visit

Mac scored 4 / 5 on 23/09/2013

Stayed here for one night in September. Hotel currently undergoing a refurbishment and some areas are unfinished - eg. old carpets. However, this didn't detract too much from the hotel as staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, decor was otherwise very good and food, especially breakfast, was top notch. Didn't check out the leisure centre so cannot comment. Would return again next time I am in Limerick.

Great ,clean, great bar food, kids club great from 6pm to 10pm but bit expensive 15euro per child especially when you have 2 and they want to go again the second night!! the kids loved it. relaxed hotel, the staff are a credit, only thing thought the family room was bit smalll. Will definatly come back again

Karen scored 4 / 5 on 18/07/2013

When we arrived at the hotel we were told that there were no family rooms left even though we had confirmed our booking the Thursday before. The receptionist asked us would we take a smoking room but I turned it down as we have have 2 very young children who both suffer from asmtha. After about an hour waiting, we were given a room. The rest of our stay was very pleasant. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable and the staff are very pleasant. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting the area.

Spent one night staying with three friends in two twin rooms at the Castletroy Park Hotel, Limerick. Very easy to get to from the motorway. Beautiful hotel had dinner bed and breakfast. Dinner was really nice, could have been more choice on the menu but what we had was really good. Breakfast the next morning was great, lots of choice, staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help. Enjoyed a really relaxing night there and would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. Only thing I would say negative would be that the leisure centre could be a bit cleaner, but good facilities available. There is a bus stop very close to the hotel which you can travel into the city centre. Went shopping in the Crescent Shopping Centre only approx. 10 mins drive away, massive shopping centre.

Pat scored 5 / 5 on 26/06/2013

We had a very nice stay in this hotel! Rooms are spacious, very clean, cosy. Beds are king size, very comfortable matrasses and specially pillows! All what you possibly need is in the room(2 hair driers , slippers, bath robe, tea, coffee ect. ) Meals are amazing, a bit on expensive side including drinks( I would recommend to book dinner with bed and breakfast to save money) Gym is big, modern, very clean. Really enjoyed sauna, swimming pool and jacuzi. Well worth it! Highly recommend to visit this hotel. Sure we will come there again.

Allie scored 4 / 5 on 25/06/2013

Absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. Staff pleasant and helpful and the food couldn't be better. We had breakfast, bar lunch and restaurant dinner and full marks all round. Only minor complaint was that showers at the leisure centre could have been cleaner. Will definitely recommend this hotel and will be going back again ourselves.

I spent last weekend in the Castletroy Park Hotel and really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast was wonderful. R&d scored 4 / 5 on 20/10/2012

We stayed on a Lydl break for 3 nights. The hotel is easy to locate but parking can be difficult during business hours. It is well placed to tour the region and has a regular bus service to the city centre. The room was spacious, clean and well decorated. The food was of a high quality and well presented. Most of all, the staff were execelent, cheerful, smiling and helpful. Our one complaint was the condition of the leisure centre. Some of the gym equiptment was broken. The hand rails at the steps of the swimming pool and the jacuzzi both need to be replaced and the tiles around them need repairs. As I am physically impaired, this made it difficult to access both facilities. On the whole, we had a very enjoyable stay and would reccomend the hotel and would stay there again.

Ulrike scored 5 / 5 on 19/10/2012

We were very pleased with the friendly reception on arriving and during our stay. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The hotel bar was also very nice and inviting. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The dining room in which we breakfasted was inviting and pleasant. The choice of food on offer was excellent. The lounge nearby was very welcoming. The training and swimming rooms were very good. I enjoyed having a swim in the pool and felt immediate relaxation. We look forward to our next sejour at the Carlton.

Service and staff very good, breakfast was great something for everybody was there with three kids nobody left hungry. I expected a full size bed instead of a pull out as the fourth bed led. room a bit tight for space as a result. Overall a good experience though

hi I stayed in yourhotel on the 2nd of March the only fault I would have is the food we got there at 8.45 p,m and we ordered crispy chichen wings boy were the crispy I could not chew them and the scrambled egg for breakfast had to much salt they should not put salt on food like that taste is v important to different people other than that everything else was top class the receptionest was v helpful with directions to the hotel and so plesent all in all v good service Tina Butler Creeragh Castlebar Co Mayo

Great hotel in terms of atmosphere, staff and cleanliness. Food was great too. The fact that it was outside the city was a bonus for us as we have small kids and had no interest in pubs/disco life. Leisure facilities were very good.

Cuddles scored 4 / 5 on 21/02/2012

My family and I stayed at the Carlton Castletroy during the mid term break. I must say the hotel staff are lovely and friendly and the Kids Club was excellent, the children were given a 3 course dinner and entertained in the evenings. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel. I certainly would consider another Carlton Hotel on the basis of the great entertainment for the children.

Lizzy scored 3 / 5 on 21/02/2012

First impressions of the hotel are that it is a bit tired... Girls on reception were nice and friendly. It was midterm break so lots of kids around and as you may have guessed it was just my husband and I so looking for a quite night. The Room... we were in room 140 on the first floor... again first impressions were very very tired looking room... while it was clean it reminded me more of a room you would find in country B&B than a 4 star hotel. Old looking furniture and lots of gold... chairs covered in gold material bed cover etc... Comfortable Pillows though.. The Bathroom... again old decor shower curtain no glass shower screens here... The shower itself was a bit of fun... you know turning the cold tap a bit more to cool the water down and then no its too cold so turn the hot tap a bit more and no now it’s too hot... they might need to be updated and a screw in the shower tap might not be a bad idea!!! The Pool area.... Looks again tired and out dated... the pool itself nice and big... Full of children (Not the hotels Fault - they were just enjoying themselves) The Food - In my opinion was the hotels saving grace!!! I have to say we went to dinner with well let’s say pretty low expectations on the basis on the rest of the hotel... and were we very pleasantly surprised... When we arrived we were greeted by a very plesant lady who led us to our table - Lovely selection of breads was offered.. Particularly liked the cheese and the bacon bread... Starter - Goats cheese and risotto both beautiful, followed by steaks beautifully cooked, no desert for me husband had the pecan tart lovely... followed by a lovely pot of coffee (Nice touch). Again Breakfast was lovely - great selection for all... so nice to see that the breakfast chef tastes his food the mushrooms and scrambled eggs seasoned perfectly... As I said over all we thought that the hotel needs a major freshen up... The staff were so friendly, and as I may have said the Food saved this hotel for us... Food was definitely 5 Star rated... Hotel 3 star... If we were back down in the limerick area we would stay for the food.....

We stayed in the Carlton Castletroy Hotel on 18th Feb. We will not return nor would we recommend it. We'd booked bed, breakfast and dinner package and rang to confirmed our booking the day before arrival. They confirmed the package we'd booked but didn't advise the need to book a table for dinner. When we checked in we were told the restaurant was full so we'd have to eat in the bar. The food arrived quickly and the starter was fab but then it went downhill. Both main courses were awful (soggy fish, chips that weren't cooked and made with bad potatoes, beef that was rubbery and tasteless). We heard many other diners complaining on the night too. 20 minutes of attempting to get the waiters attention finally got us the dessert menu but after a further half hour of being ignored we gave up and walked out. The bedroom was freezing when we went to bed (we discovered the radiator was off). The shower was impossible to regulate and left you with a lobster complexion. The usually information you'd expect to find in the room (ie room service menu etc) wasn't to be found. Breakfast was ok, an improvement on the dinner at least but not enough to compensate. Only good point was the cleanliness, the place was spotless.

Ben scored 1 / 5 on 07/02/2012

The Castletroy Park Hotel is a lovely hotel. Bedrooms are very compfortable and spotlessly clean. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast in the mornings. Bistro food in the bar was a slight disappointment, my wife ordered the trio of fish which lacked flavour and could have done with an accompaniment, also a little pricey at €18 considering this. Overall though our stay was very enjoyable, the pool was great (a lot of chlorine though!!) and all the staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. We will definitely be returning!

Vader scored 3 / 5 on 17/01/2012

Lovely Hotel. There was a Wedding on so it was noisy. We where in the front of hotel. Check if there is a wedding on, If your not part of it and want a sleep stay somewhere else. There is a restaurant and spar shop across the road. Very Handy.

Islandfella scored 4 / 5 on 09/01/2012

Friendly, relaxing, comfortable and all you'd expect. Decor needs jazzing up as getting a bit outdated. Still, a fine hotel and I would stay there again.

Just back from a 2 night break at the Carlton, Castletroy Park hotel. Could not fault this hotel in any way. Rooms clean & comfortable. Food at dinner was tasty. Breakfast selection was 5 star. Hotel staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. Location was great. Just beside University Limerick. Really enjoyed the leisure centre also. Jacuzzi was fab. Look forward to returning again. Thanks to Lidl breaks for a fantastic 2 days away. Gillian, Co. Kilkenny

The hotel was really nice, staff very friendly. The food was excellent throughout our stay.WE got a late check out also when we asked for it.We were however very much put off tough by the Piano lessons on both mornings , it was very hard to enjoy our sleep. Also the sound of the elavotors could be constantly heard from our room and that was vey annoying.

Stayed for two nights with my wife. Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Easy car parking outside. Great breakfast. Only negative comment was the pervasive smell of chlorine from the swimming pool.. The stairwells and corridors were worst (we were on the first floor). Would go back again.

The hotel found to be lovely, the room was perfect for us and our 10 month old. The swimimng was great also. We really enjoyed our recent family break in the Carlton Hotel, Castletroy. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had requested adjoining rooms and on our arrival we were very happy with our accommodation. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Excellent value for money and well worth a visit - Delighted Lidl breaks are offering the consumer this type of value in the current climate - didnt feel we were being ripped off. We had dinner in the hotel bar one evening which was very nice and very reasonable. The breakfast quality and selection was second to none - better than any other hotels we have stayed in. The swimming pool area was lovely but the main reason for our stay was to see the Kennedy Cup Soccer Tournament which was taking place in the university which was a 5 minute walk away - so the car could stay in the complimentary car park and we could walk. Overall a wonderful stay in a lovely hotel.

Very clean and comfortable, and very good room rate. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful throughout the hotel. However, a Christmas party night was held the night I stayed. I asked on checking in if it would disturb me, but was told my room was far from the party. This was not the case, as I heard the music til 2am. Noise aside, my overall stay was a good one and I would definitely consider staying again. Excellent value for money-great to have the Lidl breaks providing excellent hotel accommodation at very reasonable rates.

We were very impressed by this hotel. A friendly welcome at check-in, a clean and comfortable room, a lovely inviting atmosphere in the bar and top quality food in the restaurant. There was a large wedding in the hotel the night we stayed yet we were not disturbed at all by the guests or the reception party. Absolutley amazing value for our night's stay and will definitely be booking through Lidl Breaks again.

Place was clean and comfortable. There was a musty smell in the corridor the absence of air conditioning may have accounted for this. Breakfast in the bar not a good idea as the tables are too small. Price was just acceptable

Hotel very clean, rooms spacious, staff very friendly and obliging. Breakfast and lunch were very enjoyable. We did not have the evening mean so I cannot comment on that. Pool is 20 m. long and is fine early in the morning as children are not allowed in until after 10 am. We have reason to travel to Limerick in the future months and intend using this hotel again.

Beautiful hotel. Bedroom tastefully furnished. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Only complaint, was left waiting for approx. 1 hour for Saturday night dinner (burger and chips / salmon and mashed potatoes - which there was only enough to feed a sparrow after all the waiting). Felt we could have been waiting all night for it if we hadn't asked what the delay was. It was expensive for what we got. Helen Slattery

We all had a most enjoyable stay at the Castletroy Park. The hotel and service exceded our expectations.

The Castletroy Park Hotel was fine, room was good value for money but however the actual staff seemed very confused about the special menu for this special deal. We chose the corn fed chicken which was lovely but was served with one spear of asparagus, one baby corn and one baton of carrot. We were told to enjoy our meal and when I asked were we not getting any veg or mash the waitress seemed surprised, she said" Oh, you want veg and mash? However there was no problem and we got some with no extra charge, but what was served first would not satisfy a seven year old. The staff were very courteous and friendly. Anna O Callaghan

Excellent hotel, lovely rooms and staff. Dinner was very nice, unfortunately we missed breakfast so I cannot comment on that.
