Lovely hotel, very clean with great staff. Bus stop outside the door, every 20mins to the city centre. Very handy location for events at Coke Park. Great breakfast too.

Perfect location, quiet and perfect for families, great food and service

Brenda scored 4 / 5 on 14/05/2022

Beautiful hotel from first point of check-in. The receptionist was one of the nicest I have ever came across didn't catch her name but she was also there when we checked out again she was so helpful and pleasant to deal with. The room was big and spacious for a family of 4 ..bar and waiting staff all also very friendly _ have highly recommended to friends travelling with kids as it'd close by tayto Park etc.

Mrs Karen scored 2 / 5 on 18/04/2022

The food and breakfast were lovely and room was nice but you couldn't open a window in the room at all its just all glass which found that quite scary and reception rang our room and asked what time we were checking out and we had paid for two nights the staff in the hotel weren't that friendly at all

Caroline scored 5 / 5 on 14/04/2022

Brid scored 3 / 5 on 04/04/2022

My room was not hoovered and I could see clearly where it was and was not dusted. A big semi-circle of the desk was wiped and the rest was thick with dust. My bed was fresh and my bathroom was fresh. I did not mention it to the staff at reception, they seemed too busy and I was too tired after a full day of training.

It was a pleasure to stay in this hotel. The staff was very friendly

Sandra scored 4 / 5 on 14/12/2021

We had a lovely stay at this hotel for Christmas shopping. We had paid for an upgrade to an executive room but were disappointed as it was on the corner and quite small but the staff sorted this quickly as upgraded us to a suite which was just fabulous. The manager brought us tea while we waited ,a nice touch..We definitely will return here as location is great for shopping and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. !

Nicola scored 4 / 5 on 14/12/2021

Very clean and welcoming hotel. Staff were very friendly, albeit they were very busy. Room was spacious and comfortable. We had booked a table in the bar for a meal in advance, we were disappointed when seated in the hotel lobby. If we had known we would not be in the bar as requested, we would not have made that reservation.

Carol scored 3 / 5 on 03/11/2021

Nice hotel, staff were friendly but they are missing a little extra which is what makes a 4* hotel. Had dinner and it was very average, nothing special or more than I would cook at home myself . My husband had a bad pint and sent it back, they then gave us a bill with two extra drinks added to it ??’!! Breakfast could have done with an option of bread other than sliced pan

Food in restaurant would fill ten people and reasonable prices too! I wish I could have taken a bucket of gravy home lol Breakfast was amazing. Simply cannot fault this hotel at all! Will definitely be back ??

Receptionist on sept 9 at around 2:30pm was extremely lovely and friendly. Cleanliness of room was great! Bar was great, however, glass was not clean but it was quickly resolved by staff. Food breakfast was great the next morning but staff working in the morning was not so friendly but overall was a great stay.

Teresa scored 4 / 5 on 08/09/2021

Very good stay breakfast was outstanding on the first day but was very rushed on the second they couldn't get us out of the restaurant quick enough and the food was not really fresh so different from the first day. Room was a it corporate and lacked atmosphere. It was very clean and the bathroom was outstanding.

This was a fantastic hotel to stay in. The location is great plenty of options of things to do. Very close to Tayto Park and the gorgeous beach of Portmarnock. We were a party of 4 and from the start nothing was a problem. The food and service was of a high standard. Nachos and wings a big favourite with my two boys. Big shout out to the bar staff especially Dean who couldn’t have done enough for us as a family. We will definitely be back. This was a fab break and great value for the money also.

Stayed for one night last week, it's a beautiful hotel and lovely staff. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed. We had lovely food in the bar and an excellent breakfast. The free shuttle service to the airport was excellent , the driver was so friendly and helpful. I look forward to a return visit to this hotel. Access by bus from the city was so convenient.

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 07/08/2018

This is a lovely hotel. The bathroom was huge. The king size bed was really 2 singles put together and quite hard but fine. The camp beds for the kids were very uncomfortable. You could feel the springs coming through. We put the quilt on the mattress to make it more comfortable. The room was very comfy with cozy furniture and a nice decor. The bathroom was huge. You can control heat/air which is great. We only had breakfast here. We had called beforehand to check if they had gluten free food and were assured they had. However, the breakfast was limited - no cereal, but we did get a boiled egg, gluten free bread, fruit and beans. The manager on duty went above and beyond to try to accommodate us and for this reason we still give it 4 stars. The check in was extremely slow and the key cards failed to work twice. The front desk staff were lacking.

Gill scored 4 / 5 on 14/03/2017

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night only last Saturday. Booked a family room which was a good size with a separate little bedroom for 1 off the main bedroom. Room was spotless and bathroom was very modern. Check in as easy, charged for kids breakfast which I didn't have an issue with as they stayed in room for free. Breakfast had a huge selection, smoothies, fruit, granola pots, parma ham, cheese, a selection of pastries and all the usual hot items as per typical Irish brekkie. Selection of Breads. Didn't eat in the hotel by night, we dined at TGI Fridays near the shopping centre and this was excellent too ! Would definitely come back to this hotel, for what we paid we got outstanding value. Checkout was very fast, handed back the keys and off we went. Car Park was big with plenty of space.

Pt scored 1 / 5 on 18/01/2017

I thought the hotel was very far out when u read directions you think it is near blanchardstown shopping centre it's way out €30 by taxi ! No housekeeping in the room no beds dressed no bins emptied no bath towels or tea /coffee replaced. Very bad I would not return.

Stayed for 2 nights, had a issue with our room but the front office manager Elena (I think) sorted us out and more than made up for it. Had a great time thanks to her. Carvery was really nice and breakfast also. Was not crazy on our evening meal. All in all would defo stay here again, thanks Elena! Richard

Yvonne scored 2 / 5 on 29/04/2016

The room was lovely and spacious - twin room and very clean. Our television didn't work which is disappointing. The breakfast was not great. They didn't have muesli and the eggs - both scrambled and fried - looked like rubber. They didn't have any pots of tea. You just helped yourself to a cup of tea. It was the poorest breakfast I have had in any hotel and we had to pay €10 for a child's breakfast. All in all disappointing and not good value.

Seamus scored 4 / 5 on 28/04/2016

Very convenient to Dublin Airport and to Businesses in the general Blanchardstown and Northwest Dublin area. High quality rooms. Breakfast begins a little late though if you are doing business in the city centre or going to the airport for an early flight. They weren't willing to accommodate a request for an early breakfast either which was disappointing as I had paid for breakfast.

Angela scored 4 / 5 on 13/04/2016

The hotel is ideally situated, close enoigh to the M50 to be accessable to most places. The room was very comfortable and clean. The resturaunt had a good selection for dinner and also an excellent biffet breakfast menu. The resturaunt could do with being a little warmer, found it very cold the night we dined there. The bar was busy on Saturday night and the bar staff were friendly and efficient.

123 scored 4 / 5 on 29/03/2016

Stayed one night in a family room which was very comfortable and well equipped. The staff of the hotel were very welcoming and helpful. The food was very nice with the breakfast being one of the best i have ever had in a hotel. The exterior of the hotel requires some attention. The only downside was that I requested my dinner to be brought to me as quickly as possible as I had an engagement to attend elsewhere but the dinner was still slow which would have suited if I had not been in a hurry.

Amanda scored 2 / 5 on 01/03/2016

Emma scored 1 / 5 on 23/02/2016

I have never left a review like this before and my star rating is based on hotel staff and overall experience. We checked in on the 20th of February 2016 and were shocked when we advised the reception staff that we would be paying for the room there and then in cash. We were then informed that we would have to pay a €100 cash deposit and photo I'd. When I queried why I was informed it is hotel policy, in case the room was damaged? I advised I had never heard of this in any hotel before and that I only had a debit card which the receptionist advised she could not accept. Firstly, I thought this was very presumptuous to imply we were going to damage the room, secondly there was no mention of cash deposit on any of the booking sites, thirdly the lady checking in before us didn't have a credit card to pre auth the room and she was not asked for a cash deposit in fact when she advised the receptionist the same thing as us, that she only had a debit card, she was told "no problem just to be advised any extras to the room would have to be paid up front". Thirdly friends we were there to meet who had checked into the hotel the night before and paid in cash were in fact not asked for a credit card to pre auth, not asked for a cash deposit and not asked for photo id, something I had queried with the reception supervisor on check out to be informed that it is now new policy. I did advise that for future it might be good training practice to ensure all staff members ask and treat all guests the same, and it might be an idea to inform guests prior to check in of their new policy of €100 cash deposits on rooms in case of damage. My final point. The bar menu was asked for and a friend dining with us just wanted soup and a ham sandwich, the lovely waitress had to return to our table to inform our friend the chef would not make anything that was not on the menu. It was 6pm and a ham sandwich. On the day of check out (12pm) the house keeping staff knocked on several doors, ours at 10.38 to see if the room was occupied. At this point we had been woken and decided to check out. I would have thought there was some "policy" in play to know what rooms were vacated or still occupied so guests could rest until their check out time. Overall the feel of this hotel is one that is not run well with a lack of clarification on policy and no customer service. We have stayed in a lot of hotels including regular hotels stays due to our work and have never come across the lack of unity or clarity amoung staff. I had felt on voicing our opinion both on the day of check in and on check out that it was not heeded and the attitude felt to us that the staff could care less what we had to say. Regards Emma Lynagh

Niall - Stayed in the hotel recently and it was only ok. Check in was woeful and had to argue that our stay was for two nights dinner and not one. Rooms were ok but could do with a bit of TLC. Food menu was also ok but on second night the waiting time from entry to starter and for main course was far too long. They offered a complimentary bottle of wine but the damage was already done by then and the food was not that hot. Floor staff were polite and courteous. Overall it was a bit of a disaster.

Myself & my husband stayed here Sat night and had a very enjoyable experience got a room upgrade on check in and could not fault the room or bathroom they were fab. We had a very nice meal in the restaurant thankfully we got in before the rush as it was very busy on us leaving. Breakfast was lovely the next morning and for the price we paid for our lidl break we defiantly got value for money.

Stayed at this hotel recently I booked it on line for three adults ,when we arrived at our room there was one double bed and a fold up bed fit for a child and there was no heating in the room ,a plug in radiator had been left in that wouldn't heat our ensuite..I was told that the hotel does not accommodate a double and two singles in there hotel!! The manager and reception staff changed our room which was nice and warm but the bed situation couldn't be helped. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and the hotel itself was beautiful, food was lovely also...

Rosa scored 3 / 5 on 15/12/2015

We have stayed here a number of times and the experience has ranged from great to ok. We have found it to be understaffed when an event is on. The food in the bar hasn't changed at all and breakfast is hit and miss. The location is great for us as its close to shopping center without being to close. Lots of parking. Rooms good size but some need a little TLC but that is to be expected in any hotel. Most staff are very friendly but things have a habit of running late e.g. lunch on Sunday on ad is at 12.30 we were still sitting with large group at 13.00 waiting for it to open. Residents bar is hit and miss and this is a sticking point for us - its open its not, you can go in/you cant even when in hotel. On this visit we saw a lot of new features including a screen behind reception and learnt that there is a gym which residents can use first time we heard of it and its over year we have been using this hotel. Overall its good for short stops e.g. shopping trips, food is good, rooms are clean, lots of parking we will stay again but for the price dont expect to much.

Yegan scored 5 / 5 on 10/12/2015

I arrived to the hotel around 8 o clock on Thursday 19th of November. The staff were very friendly, When we arrived to our room it was freezing cold. there was an electric heater there which we plugged in and the room heated up quite quickly. But to arrive to a freezing cold room on a cold November night was not very pleasant. I had arranged to have a bed in the room for my 2 and a half year old grandson, But there was no bed for him. I found the hotel was completely understaffed, There was an Irish Dancing Feis in the hotel and I think they could not cater for the number of people that were there. It was impossible to find an empty table in the Restaurant. So most people had to order a Take Away. On the whole I was very disappointed. I have stayed there before and I always enjoyed my stay, but this visit was a disaster,

Stayed 14th November 2015. Stayed for one night with my 14 year old daughter as the location suited us. My main complaint is that the water was cold which was very disappointing after a long drive. I didn't dare have a shower in the morning but my traveling companions said it was still cold. Hot water is the most basic requirement in any hotel from 1 to 5 star. I overheard other customers complaining at the desk about the lack of hot water and when I mentioned it at check out time, the lady at the desk acted surprised, wrote down my room number said she'd let maintenance know. Then she asked if everything else 'outside of that' was excellent. It was as if I was doing them a favor by telling them about the lack of hot water. No acknowledgement was given to the fact that we had a horrible, cold shower....I used the hair dryer to warm up.

Abbey scored 3 / 5 on 11/11/2015

Hi, I recently stayed at the Carlton for one night, Overall the hotel & staff was very nice, however have the following issue. I had a very tiring day and was looking forward to a nice relaxing bath. However when I got to my room there was no plug for the bath and then when I was provided with one the water was not hot enougth for a bath, so I have a very cool shower instead even tho the temp on the shower was up to the full. I told the hotel staff the next morning and was told me I should have rang them, but really I would think hot water in a hotel would be a basic requirement, I did not have the time or the energy to spend that evening I arrived to sort out this matter, I just wanted to relax and chill out. So depending on what you require from a hotel this may or may not be the hotel for you?

This hotel is overrated. 3 of us stayed in a triple room on the 2nd floor that included 2 single and 1 pull out bed. Room was very small and beds and cheap pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. Rug in the room was dirty and lifted from the floor. When we arrived at the hotel around 9 pm their was nobody at the front desk and it was approx 10 mins before someone appeared from a room behind the desk to check us in. Good choice of breakfast. Overall, I was very disappointed and expected more from this hotel.

We booked 2 rooms for 3 Adults 2 children Found The Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown a lovely Hotel. A great place to stay not far from Zoo or Tayto park or Blanchardstown Shopping Center, The main problem we had was no Mattress or Blankets for Travel Cot That was a bit disappointing . But we are planing on staying again. Also didn't realize there was a gym in it. May check that out next time PG Caroline

Lovely hotel. The bedrooms are great. The bathrooms are really big with a separate shower and bath. The breakfast is really good, tasty, good variety and lovely surroundings. A bit of a drive from Blanchardstown retail park. Good place to stay for Tayto park visit. The staff are friendly and efficient. Not too crowded or noisy. We really enjoyed our stay.

An excellent hotel, friendly staff, good food and comfortable rooms. We were well treated and hotel is very convenient to Dublin city. We would certainly stay there again and would recommend LIDL breaks to anyone looking for reasonably priced accommodation in Ireland. Easy to book, no fuss or messing about. Keep doing what you are doing LIDL.

This hotel is breaching health and safety legislation. Had to check out within 5 minutes - no heat oil filled plug in radiators in every room - a serious fire hazard. I reported them to the Fire Safety Officer. Hotel claims the heat breakdown just occured - not true tripadvisor provided the proof ! Today FM should not be promoting this hotel. Had to find alternative hotel at 10.30 p.m. lasat Sunday night.

enjoyed my recent stay in your hotel. staff very friendly and efficient. value for money second to none . I will be recommending your establishment to my friends here in limerick. if I could just add one small thing .. the heater in the room didn't seem to work we plugged it in on our arrival but the room never seemed to heat up. we had drinks in the lounge with family members who live local and retired to our room about one am and still the room was extremely cold. just a small point it did not mar our stay but perhaps you could check this out. thank you Anne Ryan.

Excellent hotel. Friendly helpful staff, great food in a quiet location. Just 10 minutes from Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and 5 miles from Dublin Airport. directions to hotel were not good and there are no signpost. We found the easiest way to get there was to go to the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, then through Mulhuddart. Probably the best thing is to phone the hotel in advance. Can't wait to go back!

We had our "gathering" here on our wedding anniversary and a couple of things happened because of the Carlton staff.... 1: It was a great location all you could need was in the hotel and its grounds. 2: When they heard that it was our anniversary and not only a family gathering they up graded us to an executive suite. 3: The staff could not do more for all 17 of us they were so helpful and so attentive and caring. 4: the food was excellent in the bar and restaurant and breakfast was exactly as I like it lots of choice and piping hot. 4: All 17 of us will be back. could not fault it from reservations to check in to regretfully checking out First class.

It's a lovely hotel near the motorway. The bus to Dublin leaves every half an hour but takes a good 45 minutes without traffic. The hotel is close to blanchardstown shopping centre and also a bus travels here. The bed was comfy, the room was clean but in need of a paint freshen up to make it look new again, apart from that and a TV that was a bit fuzzy we had no complaints! Breakfast was beautiful but the service not as good as the front of house counter. The bar food we. Thought was expensive for the portions and was the drinks in the bar. There were a lot of families in the hotel and many were going to Tayto park. A great hotel and excellent value with. Bargain breaks, I would def use the website again it easy to navigate and made it affordable for us to go on a holiday

Top marks. Started well with very pleasant greeting from reception desk. We stayed in double superior room, very clean, bathroom spotless and I mean absolutely spotless and bedroom to very good standard. Ice machine on floor was nice touch. All the staff were very pleasant, dinner/breakfast/bar/cleaning teams were all polite, smiling and helpful. I would certainly stay there again and will certainly try other Carlton hotels.

We were looking forward to staying here after all the great reviews, stayed in room 302 -family room (2 adults and 2 kids) room was dirty, chocolate stuck to locker, curtains on window were dirty, stains on carpets and furniture grubby, Had arrived in the evening and was only staying for one night so didn't complain until check out - staff were apologetic and pleasant but after all the great reviews I am very disappointed

We booked the Bed and Breakfast and evening meal package with Lidl Breaks. They had a wedding on the day we arrived and another function. Our rooms were at the other side of the hotel to the wedding but we could hear the music from the function room, but that ended at 12:30 so we didn't mind. For the evening meal that's built into the package you work off a special restricted menu but still a good choice, the portions were generous and the food was great. We ended up eating in the lobby purely because the bar was so busy and there were no spare tables. The staff couldn't be nicer and did everything they could to make you stay more enjoyable. The location of this hotel means you really would be better off having a car with you though I saw a sign advertising a free shuttle bus to a few different locations, so don't rule it out completely. The rooms were nice and clean and have a separate shower and bath which I love. We got breakfast delivered to the room for an additional €7.50 per room as we had seen the crowds the night before and didn't fancy battling our way around the restaurant. It arrived nice and hot still and there was a great choice! We would definitely stay here again :-)

We really enjoyed our stay at the Carlton hotel (2 adults & 2 children). The staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful. Rooms were very clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Bar food was very tasty and there was a great selection available for breakfast. Its a pity about the location because there is nothing to do in walking distance but in saying that there are lots of activities, shopping and places to see in a short driving distance. The hotel also has a bus stop right outside the door, which takes you directly in to the city centre. We will definitely stay here again and also have no trouble recommending the hotel to family and friends.

Family room booked but we were given a double room then had to go back to reception for another room. When we got our family room we had to wait for housekeeping to bring in a fold up bed! The rooms are nice. The view is horrendous but it is convenient to Blanchardstown. When leaving I left my makeup bag in our room and when I called looking for it I had to give my credit card no. to pay the postage! We had the buffet breakfast, standard but the front of house lady as lovely and friendly & helpful. It's a hotel for convenience not relaxation.

Stayed in the hotel midweek with my son and partner, hotel was excellent value for money €90 for a nights stay and breakfast and dinner. Hotel room was lovely, newly decorated and very spacious and the hotel itself was really well decorated and staff were so friendly. There was only two small faults with the hotel. 1. The dinner was a bit flavourless, portions were huge just very bland in taste. 2. Our room was right beside the cleaners room so from about half 5 -6 onwards the door to it was constantly banging. Apart from that we wouldn't hesitate to come back. Thank you :)

Rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. Pity about drunken people getting into my room twice during the early hours of the morning due to "technical issues" with the keycards and it taking 15 minutes to get someone to answer the phone at reception while I was pushing against the door trying to keep strangers out. I will not be staying in this hotel again or ever in a hotel on my own again after this terrifying experience. They did apologise and did not charge me for the room but things like this should never happen

12/03/2013 We recently stayed in the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown booked through your website. We were, to say the least, disappointed at the standard of the hotel. The bar looked a little bit run down and looked like it needed a lick of paint. The photos on your website did not match up with how the hotel actually was.The bedroom was to be a family room and was quite cramped for three of us. The hotel looked more like a three star hotel rather than a four star. A bit run down!!!!!We sat in the lobby to have a drink as the clientel in the bar were a bit rough and it was definitely not suitable to bring a 7 yr old in there a 9.30 at night as we were going to have a drink before we went to the room. We have stayed in plenty of hotels where there are families and it would be quite acceptable to bring kids into the bar . Such was not the case here. I would definitely not recommend it for small kids. On the Sat night we returned to the hotel about 9.30 we went to the room about 10.30 to put our daughter to bed . There was a lot of music coming from the room beside and even with the television on we could not hear it as the walls were paper thin. The noise got louder and eventually we phoned down to reception where a porter came up returned downstairs and the phoned up to the room beside us to tell them turn down the music as there was a complaint about the music. When the person next door got the phone call they proceded to roar obsanities through the wall at us for complaining. After a lot of tossing and turning , eventually my daughter dropped off to sleep. I did not sleep at all as the couple next door joined another couple in the room the other side of us and they seemed to be having there own party in the room. they did not seem to leave the room at all !! During the course of the night a fight broke out in there where i had to listen to two hours of roaring and shouting and then what only sounded like one of the guys hitting his girlfriend, off the wall that was adjoining our room . Every time he pushed her up against the wall our wall vibrated !!! With this I jumped out of bed and packed my bags and pleaded with my husband to leave the hotel, as the fight was not dying down and i was afraid if we rang down that we might be in the firing line of our friend next door. A chance i was not willing to take, as our main concern was not to wake our little girl .My husband pointed out to me that we could not leave as we would of had to wake our 7 yr old at 3.00am in the morning and drive 4 hours to Mayo. All in all it was the worst night I ever stayed in the hotel. I was so upset the next morning and tired !!!!~I actually cryed at reception when the gentleman at the counter asked me did i have a nice stay.!! it ruined the weekend. i understand noise control should be managed in a proper way and we feel they could have moved us to another room..!!! This would have sorted the problem. Regards Dairin Barry

We stayed here for one night for Valentines weekend..Hotel itself was lovely staff friendly at arrival.Had dinner booked for 7.30pm we were both really looking forward to it..When we arrived to resturant it was busy, there was a lady singing live in resturant, lovely voice lovely choice of songs but so so loud...we could not have a conversation at the table..we asked the waitress how long she would be singing for she said she would be there all night...it got so loud and so annoying i asked a manager who was there if the volume could be turned down..he kind of looked at me,went over to the lady, there might have been a very small improvement..we basically rushed our dinner so we could get out...after the dinner we were sitting out around reception and then noticed she had finished singing and was leaving around 9pm,had we not been told she would be there all night we could have changed our time....very disapointed especially it being Valantines weekend....would advise anybody going just to check if there is music in resturant

On arrival paid balance at reception .Total cost €280.00 for family room and double room. Both rooms had only a double bed and after consulting reception they put 2 single beds into family room and we were happy ( 6 in family) Very pleased with room and staff and breakfast very good Checking out they issued invoice with a balance of €119 to pay .I explained that wasnt correct as I had paid the agreed €280 as per LIDL booking .After a while the receptionest brought up correct details and saw that account was paid in full and that she was sorry. Overall we were very happy with our break and would have no hesitation booking same hotel again Michael Philbin

Really enjoyed our one nights stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful from start to finish both at reception and in the dining room. The only negative thing I would have was that the menu was not very impressive and the choice very poor. I know the saying you get what you pay for but having gone on one of these breaks to another hotel recently there was no comparison and did find this very disappointing Having travelled from Cork I did think that the hotel was very isolated and in a very remote area. Thanks

We had a lovely stay in this hotel , food was gorgeous, great dinner and breafast, and the hotel was lovely, well done to all the staff. Would definitely recommend it. It was an excellent deal. Thanks Lidl. Deducted one star , on arrival (6-7pm) our corrider had alot of empty trays with left over food on them, was not nice to see.

The hotel was lovely. Although the heating did not work in two of the bedrooms. We were moved twice and the second room the heating failed to work. It was Autumn/Winter season and so you would expect this to work in such a luxury hotel. It was quiet and the food was delicious. Although, I was disappointed with the heating issue and the service we got regarding this. We were given a small reduction to the amount we paid for the break we had. However, the hotel is well situated away from the hustle and bustle and only a shot 40 min bus journey into the city centre of Dublin.

Its a rare thing these days to have your expectations exceeded but that's what happened when I booked The Carlton Hotel, Blanchardstown, taking advantage of a really good deal offered by Lidl. Booking was easy (via Lidl.ie) and the Hotel itself called to confirm the booking. So far so good. I'm not familiar with the location of the Hotel, which is in Tyrrelstown and not Blanchardstown, and while it was initially difficult to find once we got there it was certainly worth the effort. I had booked several rooms for extended family and required a travel-cot for our room. It was set up and dressed when we arrived which was great. The room we were allocated was fantastic - a really luxurious suite with everything you could think of (not sure if we got an upgrade). The rooms are very much what you see in the photos here, as are the other facilities. Breakfast was very nice, with a good selection of hot and cold dishes. The staff were very helpful and happy to provide an off-menu dish when requested. There are lovely grounds to walk (weather permitting of course) and the bar and restaurant are warm and comfortable. I only have one negative to close on: FREE WIFI! I don't understand why Wifi doesn't come as standard in this day and age. There is Wifi available alright but it is courtesy of Bitbuzz and is not free. A 4 or 5 star hotel should be able to provide a free Wifi service (even if it's only in the lobby/bar) and free wired broadband in their rooms. For this reason I have deducted a 'star'. However, overall I would heartily recommend this hotel. It was a real pleasure to stay in and as I said at the beginning, my expectations were exceeded!

This is my third time staying in this hotel and the third time I had problems on check-in. On this occasion I had booked 4 rooms but reception were adamant I had only booked 2. Luckily I had a copy of my booking information and the problem was rectified promptly. Apart from that everything else was excellent- very clean rooms, good food and a good location with a bus literally outside the door to take you to the city centre.

Terrible stay at this hotel, had booked a triple room, got a room with two single beds and a childs camp bed, complained at the front desk and then to management and eventually they refunded us back some money as they couldn't accommodate us with another room. Then went to the restaurant for a meal, got the black menu, choices were terrible and when the food arrived it was also terrible. Got steak which tasted like rubber, chips that seemed they had been re-fried a few times alreaady and vegetables like rocks. Overall did not enjoy our stay at this hotel and wouldn't be returning!

Gal scored 1 / 5 on 09/08/2012

The room and staff in the hotel were fab. The kids loved the room and the TV had speakers in the bathroom!!!!!!! Now the downside: We went to the resturant and got the BLACK menu, the choices were not good. My wife and I went for the duck (bad choice) and the girl came out with the spuds and veg on a small plate. We asked her was this for both of us and to our shock she said "Yes". When we asked could we have another she got one straight away. Now on this small plate was 3 small baby potato's a couple of carrotts and runner beans, this was for two adults!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kids ordered the "wholegrain pasta" now if that was wholegrain then I am Katie Taylor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the plus side the breakfast was bril and the staff could not do enough.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Check in was flawless, room was very clean, food was first class. the only issue we had was the room size we had booked for a family of four and they had put two extra beds in, which made it very cramped. In my opinion the room is not suitable for a family. Would I return as a family NO!, would I return with my wife no problem.

High quality hotel within easy access of fun attractions for children. Our family of 4 spent 5 great nights in this extremely child friendly 4-star hotel. The buffet breakfast was top class, the hotel was very clean & staff were very helpful & friendly. This hotel is very close to some excellent atractions for children - National Aquatic Centre (5 minutes), Dublin Zoo (20 minutes) Tayto Park (20 minutes) to name but three. For shopping Blanchardstown Shopping Centre is also within 5 minutes of the Carlton. For snacks for the kids the hotel is situated in Tyrellstown beside a Lidl shop & within 2 minutes walk of a Superquinn. There are also some great deals for B&B that may be combined with day trips to the attractions above. Would totally recommend this hotel to families with children.

The Hotel itself was lovely and any staff we met were very friendly and courteous. I had booked 2 twin rooms, but when we checked in, at approx 4pm, only one room was ready and this was a double room, they had no other rooms ready at this time. I am 6 months pregnant and wanted to rest so we used this double room. We were told to check again with reception in 30mis but the other room was still not ready an hour later when we went to the bar to have something to eat. The food was only ok. Not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. We headed into town to a concert and checked into the other room when we got back to the hotel. It was also just a double room, smaller than the first and suitable for wheelchair use which we didn't need or request. My sister and her friend had to share the bed. Breakfast was nice, lots of choice and lovely service.

Our second stay here on this offer - Fantastic deal with Lidl, you really couldn't do better. Great location for National aquatic centre and M50. Bus outside the hotel very handy for city centre. We had a suite, a bit cramped for us and the 2 kids, but we managed. Cleanliness, food, breakfast buffet, staff all good. But on our weekend there was a large wedding party with several kids who were very noisy both nights running around the corridors when our small ones were trying to sleep - could get that anywhere i suppose.

Hotel nice and modern but a bit out of the way and hard to find, i thought it was in Blanchardstown but its about ten minutes away. Enjoyed our stay , food was not up to four star standards, dinner was bland and breakfast was self service , plenty of everything but i would rate it three star as most good four star hotels do not have a self service breakfast with cold plates. I would stay here again if the food was better,

Lovely hotel in close proximity to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and the National Aquatic Centre. Excellent breakfast. Evening meal selection not great. We stayed for 2 nights and I thought it was a given that there would housekeeping included but our room was not serviced. Someone called to the door and asked did we need any towels alright. On notifying the reception we were told that you would have to request it. Its a four star hotel! Whats the story here? The rooms were lovely however the heat at night was unbearable. The air conditioning wasn't working and it wouldn't go below 16C. Health and safety: The window on the 3rd floor opened in and was terribly unsafe. If you leant out you could easily fall out. Couldn't keep my eyes off my 3yo but had to open window to let air in due to the heat. Overall I think 3 stars is loads considering. I would stay again but would request a ground/lower floor for peice of mind.

What a wonderful hotel!! We were greeted with a lovely reception staff and within minutes were settled into our room. The room was fantastic, we had booked a family room and was given an interconnecting room which meant a very peaceful nights sleep for us and our daughter. The rooms are spacious, extremely clean, and modern as were the bathrooms. Bath and separate shower in one room and a wet room style shower in the other room, which is ideal with a toddler! We ate in the restaurant and the food was outstanding, the rack of lamb was actually med to rare which was exactly what I ordered, the beef my husband ordered was melt in your mouth and Conor the waiter couldn’t do enough for us. He actually was the same at breakfast, lovely guy, and in saying that, we found ALL the staff above and beyond courteous and friendly and helpful. We had relations to visit, and maps with directions were printed out for us by the reception staff. The bar staff were also brilliant, we stayed there four nights and our daughter is lactose intolerant (so we’d brought our own food for her) and they had no problem heating her food at any time for us and never kept waiting. I personally cant wait till we get another chance to go back. We have stayed in many many hotels in Ireland and this was tops!!

this is a beautiful hotel and the staff are very welcoming, it is a very child friendly hotle, the rooms are fab and and loads of room, but there is just one thing the family rooms are not as good as i have been in other hotels, in stead of two fold up beds there could be either a double or two singles in the room, i would return to the carlton again and it is a hotel i would recommend to my friends

We had a lovely family break in the Carlton hotel, Blanchardstown. This hotel is a great base for a family break in Dublin. The staff were excellent & couldn't do enough for us. The interconnecting family rooms were ideal providing that extra space you need with 3 small children. We found both the bar & restraunt menus to be good value apart from the children's menu in the restraunt which we felt was a bit steep at €14.95! But the manager had no problem allowing our little girl to eat off the bar menu instead which at €7.95 for a soft drink, main & desert was great value. We'd like to say a big 'thank you' to all the staff who helped make our stay so enjoyable.

Booked this hotel for a two night stay recently through Today FM Breaks. Got an excellent rate. Very nice hotel. All staff very friendly and facilities in good order including free Wi-Fi in all areas of the hotel. Good quality food served in both bar and restaurant but maybe the choice is a bit limited, especially for kids. Fair play to.the restaurant manager though, who didn't charge the full amount when my daughter wasn't too keen on her selected dinner!! Overall a very enjoyable stay here but be advised on location as car is essential due to location.

On checking in, we were told that dinner would be served from 6pm in the restaraunt. When we came down for dinner, we were told the restaraunt was closed and that we'd have to eat in the bar. The food was probably the worse quality food I've eaten in any hotel. I would have got better in Eddie Rockets. The breakfast the next morning wasn't much better. Apart from the food and the rude reception staff, everything else was great. The bedroom was fantastic and the bar staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.

Room was very nice, bathroom had lots of space and a bath and separate shower. Meal on Friday night was gorgeous and lots of it there, we were so full after it! bar had a nice buzz. Staff on Fri night were very nice but breakfast staff not so nice had to ask three times to get a pot of tea! Part from that would definitely go back.

There was a group of 5 girls staying in this hotel on the Lidl Dinner B&B break away. As there was no rooms with three beds the hotel did accomadate us with a fold out bed and two singles. The rooms were very clean and the decor was lovely. The staff in the hotel were very nice. The meal included in the deal was lovely. Three of us got the beef and there was enough on each plate to feed 2 poeple. The bar was a little quite for anyone looking for a social night out but as there was a group of us it great we could have the chat. There was the full range for breakfast and enough of everything available to help yourself. Its within easy access to Blanchardstown shopping centre for a great day shopping. All in All would recommend this hotel for a night away.

Van scored 4 / 5 on 08/03/2012

Considering the cost for our nights stay on a package deal and the fact that both breakfast and evening meal were included, on the whole it was a very good hotel and our stay there was very pleasant. The staff were very polite, the hotel was very well kept and the standard double room was surprisingly spacious. There were however a couple of things that marred the stay. The heating was not working in our room on the night we stayed (23/02/2012) and we were told that the hotel was fully booked, so therefore we could not be moved. The hotel provided us with a very small electric heater, that was very inadequate for the size of the room and also incredibly noisy. Breakfast in the hotel was first rate, in contrast to the evening meal. The night we stayed; and as I read through previous comments, I see that this is a fairly regular occurrence at the hotel: the evening meal turned out to be very disappointing. After we were shown to our table, it was another 35 minutes before we had our order taken. If the restaurant that night were full, I would fully understand, however that night less than a third of it full at the time we were dining. I noticed that the girl who seated us, was also taking customer orders and acting as waitress too. It seemed that the restaurant was very understaffed. There was such a lack of staff, that tables where customers had finished there meal were not cleared during the whole of the time we ate. The meals themselves were ok. They were hot and well proportioned and the steak was cooked perfectly, but the sweetcorn soup and the jus with the steak were both very tasteless. The desserts for me, more than made up for the blandness of the other courses. All in all, I would recommend the hotel. I would just hope that they sort out there ongoing staffing issues...

Check in was a bit slow as the receptionist seemed confused and had to look for my details when I told her it was booked through Lidl Breaks. We got to the room then and it was very clean modern and stylish and well decorated, a nice quiet nights sleep was had no traffic outside as its located in away from the main road and no noisy air conditioning units running non stop as in some hotel bedrooms. The bed was very big and comfortable too with room service available 24 hour. The time restaurant was nice, staff were friendly and helpful but service was a bit slow and we had a few different waiters attending to us throughout the meal. The menu was a bit limited in selection, I was told we could order only from the early bird section because dinner was included and already with our nights stay. The bar was nice and relaxing service was fast. Overall it was a good deal and good value we had a nice quiet relaxing nights stay in a good atmosphere.

We stayed here with our 2 kids (3 and 6). We were delighted that on arrival having booked a family room - that we received an extra adjoining room at no extra cost. This made our own stay much better as we had ample room and were able to watch TV when the kids were asleep in the other room. It was nice and quiet, and with the windows open nice and cool too. The bar food was very nice and the kids portions were huge. We tried some of the kids fish and chips and they were delicious. Although the Hotel certainly was not within walking distance of cineams etc it suited us perfectly as a family visiting the Nac and Dublin Zoo. We will definitely stay here again.

One of the most beautiful hotels in ireland but the staff were unprofessional and very unfriendly - very cold. Was checked in by one of the supervisor and she never gave a smile or any form of warm welcome. They ran out of breakfast supplies every morning and there was no one to check, guests had to follow the waiters around to ask them for eggs, mushroom, bread etc. Tables were not cleared on time to make space for other guests. However, waiters always seemed to be so busy but there was really nothing to show for it. Will not recommend it to anyone or ever stay there again.

Myself and my family stayed here on 1/10/11 for a family wedding. The wedding went fine, the hotel, and staff, food and service were all presented very well, that is until we arrived for breakfast..... Most of the wedding party stayed at the hotel, so the resturant was busy for breakfast, a buffet breakfast. This is where the hotel fell down. From my experence, a good resturant should ( when using a buffet ) keep an eye on things i.e. if the food is running low . My family and I waited at almost empty buffet... we waited and waited and waited ..... after a 13 minute wait I finally asked a member of staff what was the delay with the food. I was assured the chef had the problem in hand, so finaly the food arrived ( in small amounts ) and we got fed at last. The breakfast ended at 11.00 we experencied these problems at 09.55, maybe a word of advise to the resturant, keep on top of things if you are providing a buffet. I will be staying here again in December I hope the wait for breakfast will not be quite as long.

She told me to sit and wait for few minutes she will come back to me, l sat there for 20 minutes waiting and when l went back to her before l even got near her she said to me l told you l will tell you when the room is ready so go back and wait, and that was 15hoo. I said to her when should l come back, at about 30 to 40 minutes she said and not even in a respectful way. I went outside to wait in the car for 30 minutes and when l went back in l met a different lady l said to her l have been waiting for a room but l was told it wasn't ready by that other lady pointing the Chinese lady when she saw me she said l told you its not ready so l said you told me to come back in 30 to 40 minutes and now its 30 minutes ago its still not ready so come back in onother 40 minutes she said in a rough way. I felt like l wasn't welcomed in the hotel. lf she treats every costomer the same way as she treated me l dont think there will be any one coming back to the hotel. Im very sorry to say this, but l felt she was being racist l have stayed in the hotels and never been treated like l was in a 4* hotel. On our checking out she was at the reception and she didnt even ask did we enjoy our stay she just took the cards from me thats all. Thanks but no Thanks Cynthia

we were at a wedding and stayed at carlton for one night, the room was very spacious and decorated very modern, the bathroom was also very big, nice to be able to relax when you want. Had breakfast next morning and it was lovely. Great staff very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is not in the most pleasant setiting but it is very convenient for Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Pheonix Park, Dublin Airport, and with a connection outside the door with Dublin Bus direct to Parnell Street every 30 minutes, great for a visit to the city centre. The hotel has spacious, comfortable bedrooms with good facilities. The meals I had in the restaurant were excellent. The only down side was the slow check-in and keys that wouldn't open the doors for several other people beside myself. I would recommend it to friends and family.

The hotel and staff were excellent. However there was a problem with our rooms. We booked two family rooms to sleep 8 (2 adults and 2 children per room) as advertised on the Lidl website. However when we got there we found that the hotel had been misrepresented on the website and in fact did not have family rooms. The staff and in particular the duty manager in charge were excellent and accommodating us in three double rooms with extra single beds in each room at no extra charge. In summary hotel and staff 4 out of 5, Lidl breaks -1 out of 5.

Excellent hotel, great clean and modern rooms, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Stayed for the first time and it was a good choice: very relaxing plus easy access to city centre, huge shopping centre around, bus stop just outside hotel. Didnt eat in so cant say anything about dinning.

I stayed for two nights at the weekend in this hotel. Very good overall. Spacious, well equipped rooms. Friendly staff. Good bar and restaurant. Thanks for a great stay.

Rating 5 Star. Stayed at the carlton for 5 nights from 31st July to 5th August. The hotel was out of this world as regards cleanliness, friendly staff and we had inter connecting rooms which was super as children got to have their own room with a TV. Food was very good overall and ambience at the hotel was super. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend a Lidl break at this Hotel. Maria & Jimmy Costello.

This was our third time to stay at the hotel. The hotel is lovely with great rooms, although I found the bed unconfortable this time. We also had dinner as part of our package and again I have to say that the meal was not as good as we had had previously. The staff were very friendly and helpful as always and the breakfast was good.

We had 2 adults and 2 kids and 1 toddler staying for 4 nights in our party.Got a great deal through the lidl breaks. Stayed in a family room ,with 2 bedrooms which was brillant . The rooms are in a pristine condtition and very clean. Although near the airport you have no traffic noise, which is bliss in the mornings. It is an ideal but quiet, location to all local activities and shops . The bar, breakfast and restaurant food was excellent, we ordered something different every night and it was top class . Staff were very helpful and courteous. The only drawback when you have kids that is, is it has no leisure centre ,but the national aquatic centre is just 3 minutes away.. b kennedy

Good value for money overall, however childrens beds were not very comfortable and was disappointed to find that the double bed was in fact 2 single beds pushed together. We ate in the hotel in the evening and the food and service was excellent as was the breakfast. Was going to mention my disappointments at checkout but was never even asked by the receptionist was everything ok with our stay, thought there wasnt much point. She seemed distracted and went on the phone in the middle of our checkout. I thought that was the first thing that should be asked on checkout?? How was your stay?

I really like this hotel. We had our dinner in the bar and it was delicious. Also the choice for breakfast the next day was very good. The only complaint I would have is that room service knocked on our door at 8.00 a.m. and then again at 9.30 a.m. which was very annoying as it woke us up both times and check out is not until 12.00 noon so I don't know what the necessity for this was.

Family Room was lovely ! loads of space for all the family and had separate single room off main bedroom . All was spotless ! The only complaint we had was the T.v ! only 2 channels and the speakers werent working in room .... you could hear more from the speakers in the bathroom!! We had a meal inclusive with our deal and it was very goos. service was excellent and staff were very child friendly !! over all an exellent location to stay in Dublin and we will be returning!

Hotel was top class and super value but some staff are in need of further training. We got interconnecting rooms, couldn’t believe the great facilities for the low price- flat screens, irons, minibar, aircon, separate bath and double shower and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was plentiful and presented beautifully. Hotel lobby spacious, plenty car-parking. Bus outside hotel. Handy location for M50, very near National Aquatic Centre. For those making up picnics on your days out in Dublin there is Lidl and Superquinn in the shopping area across the main road. On arrival to check in the solo receptionist left us standing with crying baby in arms while she went from one phonecall to another phone call. Our interconnecting doors were locked and after calling the same receptionist, we had to wait 20mins before someone arrived to unlock them. We went down to the bar for food at 6.20 hoping to get the early bird as advertised on menu up to 6.30. The bar man consulted the manger and returned to tell us the early bird was not available. When I expressed my disappointment to the manager behind the bar, he promptly consulted the chef and told us it was available, but gave us the blue daytime menu (even better value). The barman later returned to tell us that the blue menu finished at 3pm and we shouldn’t have been given it by the manager but on this occasion we were allowed have it. Food was good, but we didn’t dine there again. On the 2nd day, the housekeeping staff took both facecloths and towels without replacing. On my experience, I would have to question staff training.. Having said that we really enjoyed our relaxing holiday in Dublin and will definitely return to this hotel via Lidl, 5 stars, well done.

We had a great time. Although the address on the website is incorrect and we found it difficult to find. When we got there the admin staff had messed up the rooms and booked one as a double instead of twin. we had to wait for 40 minutes for beds to be split after pleading for this as one of us were going to be put in a double room. The rooms were light and spacious and well equipped although I couldnt turn the temperature up on the shower as it wouldnt allow me. We went for dinner in the bar as the restaurant was booked up. We ordered and our starters arrived a half hour later and our main meal and hour and 10 minutes after that. The manager apoligised and gave us our main meal for free. I do appreciate that the hotel was busy but they didnt have enough staff to cope. As we were on holiday we werent in any hurry and didnt mind waiting about but on the whole we enjoyed it very much. Breakfast was beautiful and plentiful.

The Hotel Room was very nice. The staff were lovely and most helpful. We had our young baby with us who was only after been in hospital and the room was frozen. The staff brought electric heaters but it did not solve our problem as eletric heat was not good for the baby. We will not return. Carmel Kennedy

We recently stayed for the weekend. Hotel was lovely. our only complaint was that the rooms were chilly and didn't keep the heat. The air conditioning seem to come on automatically. Food was gorgeous although the brealfast was not hot only warm. LIDL breaks are fantastic value for money. I would definetly go on another one. Tracy, Wexford

Hi we had a fun stay in the hotel but the main complaint would be that the hotel room was very cold. In fairness to the staff they tried to increase the temperature of the air conditioning and then provided a small heater but it was still very cold. The food was very good in the restaurant. One of the girls ordered a steak, which was not on the menu, and was unhappy with the way it was cooked - it was not medium rare as requested, but rest of the food was delicious, particularly the seabass main and the chicken wing starter. For the price we paid it was a great deal. The massage was good too - thanks!

Fabulous hotel. We booked a family room and much to the children's delight we got 2 rooms, one of which was double and the other was an interconnecting twin single room. Both were very clean with modern furnishings ect. Breakfast was plentiful and the waitress was so kind to the children and really welcoming. Its very far out of the city centre but if you have a car there is no way you could pay inner city hotel charges and get less value for money. Parking is free, we would highly recommend the Park Plaza!
