This hotel is great for families as they have a lot of going on for children there is also a swimming pool. Lots of space around the bar area & food was nice

Lovely hotel , very helpful and efficient staff .

Leila scored 4 / 5 on 29/09/2020

Very good value for money. Breakfast was fantastic and had a good selection. The queuing system for the buffet could have been managed better to improve social distancing and the bar area by the lobby was also very busy over the weekend. Staff were very helpful and kind. The room was clean and the pool area was very nice.

David scored 4 / 5 on 21/09/2020

Enjoyed our stay. Room was well presented. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Hotel just a 15minute walk to town centre. Overall very satisfied.

Marie scored 3 / 5 on 12/05/2018

The hotel reception is lovely but I noticed that a lot of the furniture needs cleaning because of food spillages. The room was nice and comfortable but the bathroom was very tired, I did notice that a lot of renovation work was going on. The restaurant was nicely laid out and the service was excellent on the first night but they had a lot of people arriving on day 2 and the disorganisation showed. Having said that the food was good. Breakfast was a buffet which I dislike so I ordered an omelette to ensure I got a hot fresh meal and it worked, it was very good. A great location for the bus, train and town centre.

Dollymae scored 4 / 5 on 03/10/2017

very nice. location and staff. very long walk to room from reception, not ideal with bags and a baby. nice pool and restaurant.

Stayed at Hotel Killarney last Monday night, awful experience as room key wouldn't work so had to go Huge distance to reception where porter opened door. After a mediocre dinner we could not get into room, back to reception and we had to pack and move to another room where porter opened door,After a bad cold breakfast we found keys would not work and had to get help, Wifi wouldn't work.As my sister who is in her late seventies was with me it was a bad experience and waste of Monet Thank you Anne M.

Stayed 2 nights in this hotel in September 2016. Excellent - enjoyed it thoroughly. the food was beautiful and the choice of food was excellent. Staff very pleasant. Will definitely come back.

Adoyle scored 4 / 5 on 13/09/2016

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel in September 2016. Excellent - enjoyed thoroughly. Food was beautiful except the hot breakfast "fry" could have been hotter. Choice of food was excellent it just needed to be hotter. Must compliment hotel on the quality of the lighting in the bedroom - absolutely great for reading which is not always the case in hotel bedrooms.

Paddya scored 4 / 5 on 10/09/2016

rooms a bit dated but more than made up for this failing with very friendly staff and first class dinner and breakfast at a very fair price,Would love to stay here again,My rating is four star and only because of the bedrooms need a revamp,Loved the hotel also the staff,

Arrived to find a lovely gesture in our room for our anniversary some fresh cookies and strawberries dipped in chocolate. Have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and nothing is too much troubled.Room, food everything fabulous as usual.Thank you.

Debbie scored 3 / 5 on 06/09/2016

Overall, the hotel was fine, breakfast was good, rooms were a good size and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, there was a terrible smell of mould in the room and we couldn't leave the window open as we were on the ground floor. The extractor does not work in the bathroom and I believe the problem of mould and damp will get worse if the hotel does not fix the problem. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay.

Stephen scored 4 / 5 on 04/09/2016

Good food; comfortable bed; pleasant effecient staff. No negatives.

Kate scored 3 / 5 on 26/08/2016

I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The food was exceptionally good, well prepared and well presented. The Hotel had a lot of facilities to interest children and lived up to it's name of being family friendly. My only complaint was in relation to the family room, which I found to be very cramped. It appeared to be a traditional double room with two extra single beds added. For a family of two adults and two children there was no space to move around and only one chain on which to sit at the small bedroom table.

Camilla scored 4 / 5 on 25/06/2016

Stayed here from Tuesday 21st - Thursday 23rd.At first glance this hotel seemed big & impersonal. This was dispelled immediately by the friendliness of the front desk staff. In fact the staff were without exception extremely helpful & courteous. Our bedroom was roomy, bright & comfortable. Our package included breakfast each day & one dinner. Poached & fried eggs were cooked to order at breakfast & were delicious, the dinner menu had good variety & food was of a high standard. Hotel is about 15 minute walk from the centre of Killarney. I would strongly recommend this hotel, one tip look for a room in the new wing, i.e. with the brown carpets.

Judy scored 4 / 5 on 15/06/2016

Really enjoyed the break and it was brilliant value, especially with the evening meal included.

Angela scored 5 / 5 on 22/05/2016

James scored 4 / 5 on 19/04/2016

lovely hotel, lovely staff, great value for food especially for kids. Really good at catering for kids with entertainment etc Would definitely return. One or two of the carpets in the room corridors could do with replacing.

Shirley scored 4 / 5 on 05/04/2016

I have stayed here on a few occasions. We always have a great time. We ate in the restaurant and it was really nice and they catered excellently for the kids. There was a kids club with lots of activities as we went during the midterm. I thought their pool was well proportioned. I always enjoy my stay and will go back again. The only downside was I felt the room was very warm even when the heating was turned off at night time. We were all sweating!!! We were on the third floor.

Damien scored 4 / 5 on 02/04/2016

Absolutely fantastic hotel for families. Staff were very friendly. This was our second time here and we would definitely make a return visit.

Grainne scored 3 / 5 on 13/10/2015

Hotel very nice and caters very well for children. The only problem was the noise at night. Young lads in room above like a rave all night. I rang reception and they sent up security and did quieten down a little. Overall hotel nice, staff very friendly and helpful.

Liz scored 1 / 5 on 19/09/2015

Hotel very comfortable. Food was excellent and staff were very helpful and friendly. Leisure facilities very good and ideal for family breaks. I would have no hesitation in giving 5 stars to my stay in the Killarney Hotel

Noel scored 2 / 5 on 18/09/2015

This is a good basic hotel that is good value for money. My major criticism is that the wi-fi is appallingly bad and this left me with a bad overall impression since wi-fi is important to me.

Pauline scored 4 / 5 on 29/08/2015

we stayed for three nights.the room was clean.the breakfast was lovely with a large choice.there was loads to keep the kids entertained.music in bar each evening.long walk to get to bedrooms.we would recommend this hotel to familys.will return again.

We stayed here for 3 days, Great entertainment for children, loads to do & about 15 minute walk to killarney town. Room was very basic, but we were rarely in it. Good hotel for children we enjoyed our stay.

Hi There I really enjoyed my recent stay in killarney, The hotel was spotless and the staff were very welcoming. Hope to get back sooner than later.

Michelle scored 4 / 5 on 27/08/2015

The room was nice and clean. Even though the hotel is beside a busy enough road the rooms are very quiet. Breakfast was lovely. The location is great, it's across the road from a pharmacy and a shop. It's 10mins walk from the outlet centre.

we had a lovely stay in hotel killarney, there is some improvement in this hotel, we could not fault it. The staff were friendly and extremely pleasant. The breakfast was one of the best breakfast we had. Keep up the good work. This hotel is after turning this self around. I will be recommended it to others

Marie scored 4 / 5 on 01/08/2015

Just back from Hotel Killarney, had a lovely time, I arrived a day late, an error on my part, the Hotel sorted me out, which I really appreciated as we had travelled from Dublin, my sister had a seperated booking with Lidl also. They put us into a suite and it worked out very well. Even though I lost my deposit. Totally my fault. Hotel great for families , loads of activities for children. Evening entertainmetn great. This is my third Lidl break in four weeks, great value on all those occasions. Pity about my blunder

Ann scored 5 / 5 on 27/07/2015

Everything was excellent will definitely return to this hotel

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 20/07/2015

Lovely hotel ,rooms nice and spacious with everything you need. Very pleasant and helpful staff seemed local ladies which is good.. Breakfast excellent with as much food as you care to eat. Dinner very nice too.Entertainment in evening enjoyable and varied. Only negative would be a lot of young children so a little noisy at times but brought mam and dad for a little break and we did enjoy our stay. Keep up the good work and well done. Would go back again.

Caitriona scored 5 / 5 on 20/07/2015

We stayed in Killarney hotel for 3 nights and were delighted with the service and hospitality on offer there. We were lucky to have a big family suite with two small boys so the extra space was extremely appreciated. It is a very children friendly hotel with pool, soft play area, kids club room and lots of extra activities to keep them occupied free of charge. The breakfast and bar food was exceptional and I would highly recommend this hotel for a family stay.

Helen scored 4 / 5 on 13/07/2015

I stayed for one night in Hotel Killarney on Friday night last,10th July. I made my booking through Lidl breaks. From the moment of our arrival in Hotel Killarney, to our departure, we found the staff and service to be top class. The girls in reception were so helpful and friendly, Dinner in the restaurant and breakfast were very enjoyable and again the staff were lovely. We did not have kids with us, but thought it seemed very child-friendly.It seems a busy, lively hotel, but our bedroom was quiet. Our stay in Hotel Killarney was most enjoyable and very good value for money. We would definitely recommend it.

Marie scored 4 / 5 on 13/07/2015

Really enjoyed the break here, the staff were pleasant and helpful, The rooms were clean and the food was lovely,

Elaine scored 3 / 5 on 13/07/2015

Hotel was great for Kids with loads to do for them. If you were looking for couple break this was not the hotel for you. On both nights when our son was in Kids club there was no room at the bar to sit an relax. We ended up sitting at the bar rather than a table. Bar is very small for the amount of guests and size of the hotel. Our room was miles away from the reception area so if you had a problem you had a long trek back. Rooms were adequate, they were clean but our shower gel unit in the bathroom was not refilled from the previous guests and was empty luckily we had brought our own. We had dinner included in our stay but the food was not great. My hubby ordered the lamb stew and the portion he got wouldnt feed a rabbit it was tiny and not much for a stew. Veg were a little dry and Irish breakfast each morning was not great very dry. Staff in general were friendly and helpful. Overall great hotel for kids, there was go carting, crazy golf and swimming along with kids clubs.

Josie scored 5 / 5 on 13/07/2015

Fantastic break. Had three children with me and they were never boured, left the hotel to see the beautiful lakes and mountains but all the children wanted to do was go back to the hotel for the pool and kids club. Ate dinner the three evening in the hotel and it was lovely food and great service. Will definitely go stay again, 100% recommend

Dorothy scored 4 / 5 on 13/07/2015

I had the best experience ever here. The staff were very friendly and great with the kids. The staff at the pool were excellent and very helpful! Breakfast went down really well with a pancake maker (and nutella!). I would defo stay there again.

Annie scored 3 / 5 on 12/07/2015

Hotel was clean and rooms spacious. Lots for likd to do with kids club and activities all through the day. Bar food over priced and portions small and service at the bar wasn't great while they were serving food. My husband was left standing for over 10 minutes to order a drink while they walked past him. That said we went for the kids and they really enjoyed it

Pat scored 5 / 5 on 11/07/2015

We had a lovely midweek break at Hotel Killarney. It was our wedding anniversary and we were also visiting our son and daughter in law and grandchildren who live nearby. The hotel was perfect for our needs and nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner in the restaurant on one night and it was fabulous. I have food allergies and our waitress was very knowledgeable about what dishes on the menu I could order. The bedroom was spotless and so was the bathroom. All in all a great stay..we will be back.

Dermot scored 3 / 5 on 09/07/2015

The rooms are a bit of trek from the lobby area and not very soundproof - could hear a lot of noise from rooms above and adjacent. The food in the restaurant was a bit dissapointing . The full Irish breakfast was very dry but in fairness there were good continental breakfast alternatives. The dinner was overpriced for what it was. The swimming pool was very nice - clean and not too busy. Some of the staff were nice but in general they weren't as friendly and as customer oriented as other hotels I've stayed at in Kerry and Clare. A good spot for a family with kids but not ideal for older people looking for quiet, comfort and hospitality.

Coops scored 4 / 5 on 09/07/2015

great hotel for family's,super staff, will definitely stay again

Lily scored 3 / 5 on 23/06/2015

Nice hotel with friendly staff. It was a little too far out of town for older people. You either walk or take taxis each day.

Smod scored 4 / 5 on 22/06/2015

Excellent hotel for families

Caroline scored 3 / 5 on 21/05/2015

The hotel was lovely, the staff were very friendly we enjoyed our stay. The only negative thing I found was the food. We had the dinner included in our stay it was a set two course meal. The starter was fine but the vegetables with the main course were old, and wrinkled, as we were early for dinner I would say this veg was left over from Lunch and reheated. I did show the waitress who agreed with me, and offered to get us fresh veg, as we were in a hurry we couldn't wait. I would stay again but wouldn't go dinner included. I have given a three star rating, if food was ok it would be 5 stars

Teena scored 2 / 5 on 13/04/2015

We enjoyed our stay here great for the kids. The buffet breakfast was absolutely rotten. The food was very dry and was left in the heaters. I found the family bedroom quite small for 2 adults and 2 children. To me an extra bed was just put in the room as we had 2 kids.

B. scored 4 / 5 on 18/01/2015

We had a 2 night stay with breakfast and one dinner. The rooms were perfect and the food excellent. I will definitely stay in this hotel again.

Kerrygal scored 3 / 5 on 16/01/2015

The rooms were nice and clean. however It is a long and large hotel and our room was the farthest from reception so if one's keycard didn't work then that was a long trek back .The staff were lovely. The meal in the restaurant was a big let down. We were out for a girls night away as a treat and we were looking forward to a nice meal. The potatoes were served cold. The meal was not that great.I wouldn't go back to eat in restaurant. But i would go back to stay in hotel. The leisure facilities were nice and clean. The pool was nice and warm and I really enjoyed it.

Hhjhj scored 3 / 5 on 29/10/2014

The hotel was extremely busy the October bank holiday I visited & did result in having to queue for breakfast for quite a bit. However I must compliment the staff for dealing with it efficiently & very calmly! I was also very pleased with the quality of the food both for breakfast & the evening meal. I have stayed in more expensive hotels where you do not get the selection of seeds for example that were provided here with one's cereal e.g. linseed, pumpkin, sunflower & sesame seeds. For someone not into the cooked b'fast, this was lovely. Staff throughout the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. the leisure centre was great to have also. However if staying in a hotel on the October bank holiday with A LOT OF KIDS is not your idea of a holiday & if you don't have the patience to queue, then maybe you may want to think about somewhere else. Many thanks to all at the hotel. I certainly got value for my money & enjoyed the stay.

Catherine scored 5 / 5 on 16/08/2014

Had a lovely 3 night break in Hotel Killarney. From the minute we arrived we found the staff extremely courteous, friendly helpful and nice. We had a lovely large spacious room which was spotless. Breakfast was very good and a really nice selection of food. All staff that we encountered were extremely helpful and nice. We will be back and have no problem recommending it to anyone

Nicola scored 5 / 5 on 11/08/2014

2nd visit family of 4, kids aged 9 & 4, rang ahead a few days earlier about a upgrade to a family suite. On checking in we had no hassle everything was arranged. The male receptionist was very informative and couldn't be more helpful. This is a very big hotel and would advise not to bring luggage checking in. View the room first and find the nearest exit to bring the car around too. Room was spotless but very stuffy even with the windows opened. Meal that evening was alright, not much of a variety on the Lidl menu. Breakfast buffet the next morning we ate at 8.20am and the queues were mental from 8.30am. Kids were running around with no parents correcting them and opening fire exits. Facilities were 1st class for the kids. The kids club in the hotel is excellent. It definitely is a child friendly hotel with supervised movie nights in the play room (4-11 years). Timetable full of activities for the older children. Great nightly entertainment for adults with even Elvis making an appearance. Overall highly recommended for a family getaway

Sinead scored 3 / 5 on 31/07/2014

We had a very enjoyable stay both my friend and myself. Its very much a family hotel which is great for young families. An ideal hotel for young families. The staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. The morning staff over breakfast couldn't do enough for us making sure we had enough of everything. We were a bit disappointed with the young waitress staff on Saturday evening as we had to ask four times for our order to be taken. when had our main course and asked to see the dessert menu and we were told that they were finished serving went they had another 20 mins before they stop serving. Maybe its the youth of today but when you've had a busy day and are just looking forward to a nice dinner you don't want to go looking for someone to take your order four times and then been told they are finished serving when all the girls want to do is chat to there other team. I would stay at this hotel again as it was good otherwise I give a rating of 3 as it was good as regards the breakfast the rooms were clean . I was disappointed as regards the bathrooms as we were staying two night in the hotels we didn't receive clean towels for our second night.

Jean scored 5 / 5 on 31/07/2014

Myself, husband and 5 year old daughter stayed for 1 week in July 2014. Couldn't praise the place enough. Lovely welcome by the receptionist on check-in and this positive vibe continued for the week. The kids club was excellent, the girls (and fella) were really lovely, my daughter couldn't get enough of the place and was there from 10-12 in the morning and back again at 6 -10.30 for the evening. The weather was lovely when we were there and we tried to get some sightseeing done but had to keep rushing back for all the activities in the hotel. The pool staff were lovely but strict with the kids which was good, Splash mania was a big hit with our daughter. Queues formed for breakfast after 9.30 which was to be expected with the amount of people there, the restaurant staff were kept busy but were efficient. A nice touch was the clown outside the restaurant after 9 which amused the kids if there was a queue. The room was hot at night and as we were on the bottom floor we didn't leave the windows open but this a minor gripe. Cleaning staff were very pleasant and obliging. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and will be back.

WE HAD A WONDERFUL 2 DAY STAY IN THE HOTEL KILLARNEY THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AT A REASONABLE,A VERY GOOD SHOW IN THE EVENING IN A LOVELY LOUNGE AND DRINK AT PRICES THAT WERE NOT OVER THE TOP. THANK YOU ALL;

Mob scored 4 / 5 on 22/07/2014

Accomodation was clean and laid out well. Breakfast was decent and the dinner and starter were good value. Staff were friendly and enjoyed the banter. It was a busy hotel and I can see why I thought it was very good value for money only quible is if you are ordering drinks in in restaurant well over the five euro mark for a basic class of white which turned out to be tough drinking, I dont know what other prices at bar were.

Brigid scored 3 / 5 on 21/07/2014

Got off to a bad start as they had no booking for me on the computer, but eventually found the e-mail. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were on the second floor but had to walk forever to get the "lift" which is difficult when you have luggage. Breakfast was good, hot and tasty. On the second evening we got stuck in the lift but when we did get out we were offered "drinks" in the bar complimentary as we were checking ou the following morning. Overall I enjoyed staying there and would definitely go back on a "lidl" break, great value for money.

14th June, 2014; The hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful. The room was miles away from reception and we had to walk up and down corridors for what seemed like an age to get to it. Breakfast was very poor on the first morning and fair on the second. Overall only fair.

Spent the weekend in the Hotel Killarney, Overall it was a good experience , couple of minor issues, (1) they have a rule that its adults only in the pool after 7 which is a bit early especially in the summer for a child to have to leave the pool/ (2) We had booked a table for 8.30 on the first night in the resturarnt and when we arrived we had to wait a good 15 minutes and had to remind the waiters a few times before we were seated and then we were seated in the inner dinning area which was been emptied and we ending up eating on our own in a empty room. Other than that it was good with everyone we came in contact were perfect and could have not been nicer

Annao scored 4 / 5 on 14/06/2014

The hotel is exactly what you pay for. The staff was very friendly. Everything we asked for was done. The breakfast could be better. The choice was very limited. But I would stay there again as it's a good value for money.

Just back from a one night stay in the Quality. It was easter time so it was very busy. Hotel itself is a bit shabby, the rooms are badly in need of updating. Our room was right beside the lift on the second floor and the playground was right outside so was very noisy. Children were out playing till after midnight. The kids club in the hotel is excellent. It defintely is a child friendly hotel. Food in the restaurant was good value. 20 euro for 3 course dinner and kids menu was 6.95 with desert. Breakfast buffet very busy and only ok but all in all not a bad hotel.

Exterior is very shabby, which didn't inspire confidence but I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean and modern inside. The family room was spacious, nicely decorated and spotless. We travelled with 2 children ages 7 & 11. We were on the 2nd floor at the back so a hike to and fro but good excercise. :) The kids club was a hit. Lots of fun and varied activities for all ages. My only issue was that the kids were let go and come at will from the Leisure centre. They had to be signed in/out of the playroom. I think that safety aspect could be improved as the leisure centre backs onto a carpark. We had B&B + 1 Evening meal. Breakfast was good. Decent selection for hot/cold foods and plentiful. My only issue was the staff going around with a troley to collect dirty dishes with a slop bucket (an old Frylite oil bucket) in view. A bit off putting when trying to eat. I think traditional waiter service would be nicer. Dinner was from the set-menu which had a decent selection and was adequate... it wouldn't set the culinary world on fire but it sufficed for what we paid for. We took a star off for staff "friendliness" or lack thereof. We found the were "civil & functional"... and that started from check-in. She was glum to say the least and made everything sound an effort and hassle. While the rest of the staff encountered weren't glum they certainly weren't welcoming or friendly other than servicing your basic needs/requests. A genuine good morning or hello was not to be found, except when we once encountered the manager in passing. Overall, we'd go back as for families with school age children/teens there was more than plenty to occupy them and allow parents to get a real break too.. We didn't go for the staff but if that improved I'd say we'd give it a 5.

We had an excelled stay over the October Bank Holiday weekend. The staff were excellent and extremely friendly. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the facilities and there was a lot to do in terms of activities etc..

I booked the Quality Killarney for the Oct Bank Holiday weekend, and rang ahead also, to confirm that it was a Family Room. I gave the ages of my kids, 8 and 3 ,and was told that I would have ample room in the bedroom for the 4 of us, as the Family rooms were a little bigger. This, unfortunately, was incorrect information. The room was tiny. We were squashed in fact. This was extremely disappointing, considering, it was our first family break away in years, due to illness, and my toddlers first ever break away. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were spotless, this was above and beyond, and would recommend the hotel for this reason, but this reason only, as the room in itself, had us consider cutting our break short by 1 night, only due to the sadness of our 8 year old over this, we didn't.

We spent one night in the Quality Hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. We arrived early and happily are room was ready for us. We had booked a family and it was really nice and very clean. We spent over a hour in the pool with our 3 year old son, hotel is great for kids, lots to do. We booked dinner in the hotel and it was really enjoyable, would definitely return again soon.

The hotel itself is generally fine, the rooms well kept, the staff friendly and its near to Killarney town. The food however is average, the evening meal close to the standard of a school canteen.

Amanda scored 1 / 5 on 19/07/2013

The hotel was just fine. It isn't its fault it is so big and it is a marathon to get to the room. We were put on the third floor, with a buggy so that was a workout. The steps in the lobby beside the bar was always a challenge. We tried to use the wheelchair mini lift but it wasn't working. Breakfast was average but the scrambled eggs were just terrible to even look at, baby food. I love my eggs but I couldn't face them.

Stayed in a lovely family room, which was spotless. All members of staff throughout the hotel were super friendly efficient and could not be more helpful. Great place for kids, great entertainment, great food, great value. I would certainly stay here again. Only drawback were toilets off the main bar were not so clean.

We went for a short two night break on the 10th of May 2013.The staff were very friendly and helpful, and had great patience with the kids, and there were a lot of kids.If you want a quiet break for a couple this is not the place for you. If you want a break away with the kids, this is the place to go. If the weather is bad there is still lots for the kids to do, so the parents get some downtime as well. The food and the service were very good and the family rooms were bright and clean.I will be going back later this year, maybe for a break during the "Irish" summer.

We stayed in the quality hotel Killarney on Saturday mar 16th , the hotel was fine for a family getaway the dinner in the restaurant was lovely and reasonably priced for the kids . The pool was lovely and the kids really enjoyed it.the staff were really friendly , the only downside was check in was a bit slow as they seemed to be understaffed at check in . Overall highly recommended for a family getaway

Rayj scored 3 / 5 on 20/03/2013

On arrival, there was a problem with check in- basically we were not checked in at all. After showing them the confirmation email and waiting 15mins before it was sorted, we missed last call for the dinner we had paid for in our package! On arrival in our room which was lovely, we noticed on the menu inside that last call for dinner was in fact 9:30, this was 9:15. So we rang down straight away but were told the chefs had cleared away everything as it was quiet. The next evening we made a reservation just to be sure. We told our waitress bout the evening before to which she apologized for and included dessert in our meal that evening for free. Still not sure what to make of the hotels service but that ladies kindness went a long way. Other than that, room was lovely and spacious, breakfast and dinner were nice and pool had good facilities.

Stayed here in october 2012, got upgraded to a bigger room which was fabulous, the reception area was bright, staff very informative and friendly. The hotel room was clean and everything was in good working order. The only downside was our room was a bit far from the reception area, which is fine for us as we dont have buggies or wheelchairs. The pool area was clean and kids organised activity was well supervised. The real plus on this trip was the childrens menu in the restaurant and for that I will give top marks, one of my children loves adult food but child portions and this restaurant provided that, and it was also quite recession friendly pricing. The bar area was family friendly and the pint was E4.40 which was very good ! We will be back

Reception, Bar area and children's facilities all very nice. Bar food and breakfast were lovely. I thought the bedroom, corridors and swimming pool were very tired looking and could do with being freshened up.

Very impressed with our 2 day stay. We rang the receptionist on our way to the hotel explaining that we would not make breakfast in the morning as we were leaving before then to do a hill climb and asked about the option for a packed lunch, a lovely lunch was prepared. I asked for quiet rooms as we were a party of 4 on a hill climb and room was clean, tidy with great shower and quiet. There was some mix-up on the need to book dinner but we had no problems, dinner was lovely, no delays with very friendly staff. Breakfast the next morning was very nice, yummy homemade bread but advisable to go down at least before 9.30am to avoid queues for hot food, the staff and notices in the hotel recommended this also. Really good value for money and great staff, would recommend.

Overall a very satisfactory stay for us. Description of hotel location slightly misleading. Hotel is located approx 1.5km from town centre and is at least 15 mins walking distance (for fully abled guests) from bus/train station. Rooms very comfortable but quite a walk along long corridors to reception. I would not see it as suitable for people with mobility problems as it would require own transport or taxis to get to/from town centre. Staff very helpful and food high quality. Lots of outside activities for chidren but not used during my stay as it was low seasonl and there were very few children about. Didn't use other facilities so I can't comment.Would not have any problem recommending this hotel taking into consideration the above comments

The room was nice and spacious, the waiting staff and the porter were very nice .the reception staff were ok. for us it was just too busy .its is a hotel for families not couples wanting a relaxing break away, the breakfast was the best part of our stsy, the rock hard beds were the worst part!!

Family scored 3 / 5 on 20/09/2011

Facilities for children were excellent and the pool was brilliant. But the family room we were given was really poor, there was a double bed and a single bed and then another single bed shoved into the corner, with very little room in between to walk around. it was also a bit grotty and old fashioned. Not at all suitable for 2 adults and 2 children. Also had no fridge. We had to ask for an upgrade which cost €30. Bar food was expensive and not very good.

Very dissapointed with the quality hotel killarney. Have stayed at this hotel before and never had any problems thats why i booked again. Receptionist could not find my booking and was quuite ignorant when she had to book us in again, had nothing to do with us i had my booking reference and confirmation text. Had booked a family room but this was just a standard room with extra single bed shoved into a corner. My sons head kept falling down between the bed and the window and i had to put a towel over the side of the radiatior so he would not bang his head off it during the night. Shower gel and liquid soap ran out.

Great hotel for a family break. Friendly reception, clean comfortable rooms, TV had DVD player, great to keep children occupied. There is a crazy golf course, go cart track, giant chess game, lovely playground with swings, a little shop where children can buy sweets (this is just beside the outdoor seating, so parents can sit and have a drink, whilst keeping children in view. There's a lovely leisure centre with pool and sauna etc.. Entertainment for children when I stayed was a man with some tortoises and lizards which the children could look at and hold, entertainment later on consisted of an Elvis style singer which was great fun and all family was welcome. Directly opposite the hotel is a garage, cash machine, supermacs, extravision and supervalu. A short drive will bring you to Killarney outlet store and the lovely town of Killarney. Muckross House is a short drive and it is well worth a visit. Breakfast was good, provided a good choice. All in in a great hotel, plenty to do, only issue I'd have is there didn't seem to be wi-fi access.

One-night stay in August. Overall good value Lidl-Break as usual. However Lidl-Breaks state: "The Quality Resort Hotel is the perfect location for a family holiday" ............ but is it really for couples? Hotel and Resort share the same bar and dining facilities. Don't bother if you want a quiet evening drink in the bars -there are children running everywhere. Breakfast pretty poor. Killarney is a great place to visit.

We stayed for two nights. Its a lovely hotel, and the accommodation was first class. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has good facilities for families with children. However, we had a long wait to be seated for breakfast, but the food was great. Our room was quite a distance from the main hotel area through long corridors with poor direction signs. We enjoyed our stay. The Lidl breaks are great value.

We enjoyed our stay and the kids had a great time at the Halloween party Everything was very satisfying. If I was to fault anything it would be the breakfast charge for the children ( cereal and toast as they don't eat frys) 5 euro is a bit expensive for a 5 and 7 year old. Value for money is good for an adult break ( I HAVE A ONE NIGHT STAY ON 20TH NOV IN CLONAKILTY BOOKED ALREADY WITHOUT THE KIDS) but there are alot of extras for kids even though its made more appealing when KIDS STAY FREE is advertised. The hotel was in a very good, convenient area to Killarney. Just 15 minute walk to town, with plenty car parking space on site. This hotel is very child friendly, with plenty to keep children entertained. The pool area was great and the pool nice and warm, maybe a little too much chlorine but it may have been needed due to the temperature. The only down side to this hotel was the bar food, the menu limited and the food we had definitely made us sure not to do that again. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of fresh hot food being topped up regularly. The restaurant menu in the evening could do with a little energy and thought being put in to it, there were at least 3 dishes the same . Entertainment in bar at night was varied and enjoyable. All and all we had an enjoyable experience and we did not pay a fortune for what we got. The hotel is not 5 star, but it does not pretend to be .

We stayed at the Quality Resort Killarney (myself, husband, 3 children aged 13, 12 & 9) just for one night. Unfortunately we couldn't stay longer! We had a brilliant time! The hotel is very child friendly with loads for them to do, which meant that we had a very relaxing time. The games room, pool area, crazy golf and bouncy castles kept the kids amused all day long. We didn't even have to leave the hotel as the kids were quiet happy to stay there. Would definitely go again, but for longer next time!

Stayed here in July 2010 using lidl breaks. Meals were included and very good. Breakfast was extensive and set menu dinner was good. Lots of stuff to do on site for kids, a cost applied to some but some are also free. The live music in the bar every night was a nice touch. Only gripe was we were put in a bedroom next to the lift which was a bit noisy during the night. Overall it was very good value for money @ 118 for family room + dinner and breakfast.

The hotel room was too warm... The pool water was only suitable for kids i.e water was too warm and could not enjoy a proper swim. A pool temperature should be cool. We had lunch in the bar and I ordered a ham and cheese toasted sandwich. I received a ham/cheese and tomatoe sandwich. I explained this to the waitress and she insisted a ham/cheese and tomatoe sandwich was a ham/chesse sandwich. it took some peruading to get the sandwich changed. the only positive thing was the breakfast. Perfect in quality and service...

Rooms were comfortable, meals very good and great selection for breakfast. Staff very friendly and were very accommodating especially when a local tour apparently was not working out for us, they were very helpful and organised that we be collected at the hotel and dropped back there afterwards. The swimming pool also nice. I would say that you would need a car as its a good walk to killarney centre and no public transport available ....Mary

Accomodation was O K - rooms clean, but meals - food in restaurant was very very disappointing and general service theirin was slow and lacked professional standard. This quality of service was poor with few trained/professional dining staff present and overall a casual approach to customers was pervasive throughout the our stay. Major turnoff - throughout our weekend the delph for breakfast and dinner was tainted -, gritted with food grime - no/poor prewash in kitchen. In breakfast bar, hot food was left sitting in grease in hot grill trays and fresh food was added to grease filled containers. i love Killarney but i was most disappointed with the Quality hotel. i must say the value of Lidl Breaks appeared to be very good however our first experience has tarnished the effect overall.

Karen scored 3 / 5 on 03/07/2010

The staff were very friendly and our kids (12, 9 and 6) had a ball. We have a slight complaint however, our inclusive package meant that we had pre-paid for meals in the restaurant for three nights. On the third night we and the kids wanted a change of scenery (the resaurant is the same location for dinner at night and breakfast in the morning) so we asked if we could eat from the bar on the third night instead (cheaper prices but a different menu) there was no budge on this at reception so we ate in the bar and paid full price and didn't get a refund for the meals that we didn't eat in the restaurant nor were we offered a complimentary dessert or coffee. Small gripe but worth mentioning - I think there should have been some flexibility in this regard - after all the food was paid for. On another occasion we went to the ring of Kerry (fantastic!) and didn't arrive back to the swimming pool until 4.45 - the splash mania (inflatable fun at %u20AC4 per child) was underway from 4-5 so they missed most of it. However, at reception we were asked for full price even though the kids would only have had 10 minutes in the pool (%u20AC12). I asked for a reduction and was told that we could have half price at that point. These are just two examples of where I think the hotel could have scored a full 5 stars but missed that opportunity. Overall the hotel was great, the entertainment was great but flexibility was defintely needed - it is not the price I am complaining about, it is the slogan 'big on the little things' that seemed to jar with me with just these two examples.

We have just returned from an amazing short break in KIllarney. Myself and my friend brought 2 children and we all stayed in a family room at the Quality Resort Killarney. I was amazed at the service, value and range of activities that were available in the hotel. My son is aged 9 and my friend's little boy is almost 5 and they had a wonderful time. They went to the kids club in the morning while we were relaxing with a coffee, they went swimming, played crazy golf and table tennis in the park. During the day we all went sight seeing, we did some of the ring of Kerry, went to Ross Castle and Muckcross House but I was absolutely blown away with the Gap of Dunloe, where we were driven across the most magical landscape on a horse drawn cart. The food was great and the kids went off to the kids club again in the evenings while we enjoyed a glass of wine. The total price ............... less than a night out at home and a baby sitter. Excellent value and excellent service.

My husband and i stayed at the Quality Resort Hotel in Killarney In April of this year 2010. We found everything about the hotel excellent, the food, the room and the service. Will not hesitate to go back again.
