Had stayed here many time this time not so good not enough bar staff on to take orders for food had to wait long time it was same for trying to get a drink also fan in my room very noisy as my child sleeps with light on and the other lights when you turned one of they all went of also when we were in the pool they closed of shallow end and middle of pool for swimming lessons which is very dangerous especially for anyone who does not swim very disappointed with hotel

Finny scored 5 / 5 on 07/11/2016

As previously we enjoyed our time in the mount errigal. Staff were friendlyand always speak to you, in particular the excellent barmen(Conor especially). Food was lovely and value for money. Deputy manager Paul sorted out a big mix up with our food to a very satisfactory outcome, he is a gentleman. Room was very clean. We could have done with more bath towels as there were four of us and the fan in the small bathroom didnt work. The swimming pool area was spotless but I suggest stopping patrons blocking up the changing rooms with their belongings. The movie room for kids is a great idea. We will definitely be back.

Great size room with two large beds and plenty of room in bathroom. Breakfast is a good buffet with lots to choose from. We ear in bar both evening and the portions are generous.

Fiona scored 3 / 5 on 26/10/2016

Lovely hotel had fantastic bar food when we arrived on the Friday evening and plenty of choice on both morning for breakfast. Unfortunately the bed in room 301 was so uncomfortable only about 5 hours sleep on both nights it would put me off staying here again

We arrived on the Friday and stayed 2 nights . Hotel was lovely and staff were very friendly & helpful. Food was excellant! Rooms clean & beds comfortable . We used the Leisure facilities on both days & we really enjoyed it. Our stay was very enjoyable & we are definitely going back .

The hotel was clean and well presented. We did not receive good service unfortunatelly. The radiator in the room was not working and we said that to the receptionalist but she did not do anytihng. The staff in the bar was tired and the service was poor. Thank you

Mount Errigal Hotel was the last word. We had four for our family room, but had trouble from we entered our room when our son and daughter saw a double bed for them to sleep in. Lovely lady on housekeeping immediately landed with a single foldup bed for my son, heaven again. Staff, service, food, and pool was fantastic. We will definately go back again on a holiday. Ten out of ten to the Errigal. Frauline and Desmond Young, Ballyconnell, County Cavan.

Nice Hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Thankfully pool area is due to be renovated soon as it's very run down. Child friendly Hotel

Martin scored 3 / 5 on 12/04/2016

The food at Mount Errigal would not tempt me back there again. The model seems to be quantity instead of quality. Starter too big, veg and mash with mains - overkill. Steak was a bit chewy for a fillet but edible. Wifey ordered salmon without mussels and prawns or sauce. Disappointingly it all arrived but sent back and re-plated. Overall disappointing. Good bar staff, good staff at reception and good value for money but not going back as i like a bit of a wow factor with my food. Turkey and ham looked good going out I thought

Sinead scored 5 / 5 on 12/04/2016

Beautiful hotel!! It is great for families with its spacious family rooms, swimming pool and staff are very kind and tolerant of hyper children! Highlight of our stay was checking in to our room and finding five amazing cupcakes with a note to say welcome back as this was our second time staying at the hotel! Customer service at its finest! Will definitely be back. One wee recommendation though, bring your own swim hats as they are 3 euro a pop, might not sound like much but 15 euro for 5 swim hats is a bit steep!

Arrived early. No problems. Pleasant welcome and quickly despatched to room to relax. Family room. Generous size compared with other family rooms in other hotels. Down to the pool. Good size. Spa bath out of order first day but working second day. Food was superb. Huge starter portions and good mains. Children loved the free film night entertainment so we adults could relax a bit. Quiet night sleep.. no disco/ pump classes blaring through walls. Overall an enjoyable stay. Visit to Glenveagh Castle a must. Great country. We were on a Lidl deal. 2 nights bb and 2 eve meals for adults 207 euro approx. Excellent value.

Ups scored 4 / 5 on 05/01/2016

All the lovely people out there looking to have a great family outing. We have just returned from Letterkenny, Mount Errigal Hotel celebrating New Year. Good things first. Family room was well specious with two queen size beds and clean. Loved the decor in the lobby and took few photos for the memories. Leisure centre was out standing. Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi was well maintained and clean. Food in bar and restaurant was good & up to the mark. The reception staff, bar staff and management were all very friendly and helpful. Free WiFi was good in it’s speed. Then comes the downsides. Bathroom in the family room was extremely small and only one person could fit in. There is no towel warmer in the bathroom, and the provided towel railing was not user friendly nor the towels are getting dry. Breakfast would have been great if there was little bit more bakery products such as butter buns, crescent buns and free range bread. On 2nd of Jan 2016 there was a shortage of bar staff during the Lunch time, but when I mentioned that to a fellow bar staff quickly few guys appeared. Drinking water tap at Leisure centre was not that convenient and cannot refill the personal water bottles at all. Lastly, evening movie at 7.30pm for kids was the only entertainment we fond for kids during the break. Any way all in all we had a great time if forget about the downsides. It is up to the management of the hotel to consider the highlighted negative issues. Will definitely return in future.

David scored 4 / 5 on 01/09/2015

This is a fantastic hotel for a family break. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed for two nights in a family room which was big enough for us. There is plenty to do in the vicinity with Glenveagh national park, Derry City and excellent beaches within a 30 minute drive. I would have given this hotel 5 stars however the mattresses and pillows were a uncomfortable and could probably do with being upgraded. Having said all that we are looking forward to going back in the future.

Paula scored 3 / 5 on 05/08/2015

Myself and my 3 kids had a lovely time in the Mount Errigal last week. We booked a non-smoking room but were mistakenly put in a smoking one. When we complained later that night we were moved to a larger and more suitable room. The pool was a bit cold at times and the kids pool was closed but otherwise it was great. The hotel showed a kids movie every night at 7.30pm which was well received. We dined in the hotel one of the nights and though the food was lovely. The hotel is in a very good location for touring and for the town. I would recommend this. The staff were very helpful and nice too.

Two night stay with one dinner deal. Dinner was different menu from restaurant ,served in bar.It was ok .Room was all right except there was no fridge .Town not really walking distance in high heels (wife said) so we got taxi. Nice breakfast .staff pleasant enough ,even though we where billed for dinner a second time.Don't think I would stay again.

Excellent hotel with good food and great welcome.

Gerard scored 1 / 5 on 01/08/2015

I'll start with the room: The room was small with one plug socket in the entire room meaning the television had to be unplugged to charge a phone, childrens tablet, laptop etc. The kettle was placed on a low shelf in a little alcove away from the dressing table where the cups and saucers are kept, a bit dangerous bringing a boiling kettle across the room when theres small children playing on the floor. The shower was gravity fed with no power from it at all and the bathroom was quite cramped. The Breakfast: Each morning we went for breakfast (3 mornings) there was always a long wait for something, trays, glasses for juice, plates. One morning about 30 guests had to hang around at the serving area for the staff to cook the food and wash all of the plates, glasses and trays as there was absolutely nothing ready. I understand staff can be under pressure from time to time in a busy hotel but it seemed to be a consistent theme in this hotel. The Dinner: As we'd booked a family package (3 B&B &1 dinner we were sent to the big room at the back for our meal. The waitress offered us soup on arrival and brought it to the table promptly. They seemed to have forgotten we were there until a manager type chap came over and told us our mains would be with us shortly despite the fact that we hadn't ordered yet. When the food arrived it was non eventful not that we were expecting fine dining but even this fell way short of the mark for hotel fare. The only thing ran well in this hotel was the bar area and the swimming pool where the staff seemed to be fairly efficient. Even for a family as easy going as ours this hotel is below the standard I'd expect of a Lidl Breaks hotel or any hotel for that matter. I wish now that I'd heeded the warnings on trip advisor. Executive Summary. Bad hotel, badly run. Never again. From all of us at room 212

Stayed there last Friday night. Two adults and two children. There was a small mix up with rooms when we arrived but nothing that couldn't be resolved. Which it was.. smoothly. The staff couldn't have been nicer.even carrying our bags to our room! . Dave the manager went out of his way to make us feel welcome after a long drive as well as the lovely receptionist on check in. Keep up the good work mount errigal staff...we will be back

we were unable to go to the Mount Errigle as they were fully booked, I received a phone call on Friday morning from the hotel , who said they were sorry they had not rooms left, however the would hold are reservation, and give us an upgrade when we were able to go. we were very disappointed and this is why we booked the Kees Hotel. i have stayed at the Mount Errigal on a few occasions before

Excellent facilities. Spacious throughout. Exceptional staff, attentive, friendly and helpful with a smile and hello on every occasion. Had some dinner in Dexter's and it was delightful, excellent value as part of our Bargain Breaks deal. Would and have already recommended it to others. A little plate of treats in the room sums Mount Errigal up perfectly - thoughtful and friendly. Minor criticism would be the TV connection but who goes on holiday to watch TV!!

We had a pleasant stay here, staff were very friendly and left me a card and treats for my 30th birthday and a free upgrade! We ate in the smokehouse bar twice it was lovely food and nice bar staff! The only thing that lost a star was the rooms could be a bit nicer and had no fridge and we had no wifi signal, other than that it was a good hotel!

Hotel is fine to have a break in you are a family as the pool is great and very clean. Hotel staff very pleasant. We had a family room, one really comfortable bed and one not and the shower leaked very badly to the extent we had to get more towels to mop up the water.

Tyone scored 5 / 5 on 25/04/2014

We stayed here 2 nights for our easter break, hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful. Our family room was of good size, clean and in a quiet area. Swimming pool was excellent and kids pool was a great size. We had bar food in the evening which was very good and breakfast was excellent, one of the best I have got so far. We were asked at reception whether we wanted to pay on arrival or we could pay on departure. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and plenty to do for kids in Letterkenny. We would definetly go back to the Mount Errigal and would reccomend.

Jillian scored 2 / 5 on 23/02/2014

When we arrived we found the receptionist unfriendly but thorough and we were also asked to pay for our room inadvance when we checked in (Usually when we stay in hotels we tend to settle our bill when checking out not inadvance). We had two young children with us, we were hardly going to do a runner in the middle of the night. The room was big and clean but very tired looking and needed modernised. The staff in the leisure centre were very nice and really helpful. The swimming pool was a good size and it had a great children's swimming pool. I would advise future guests who wish to use the swimming pool to bring swimming caps with them. We were charged 3 euro for each swimming cap which were not individually wrapped and were quite cheaply made - very poor quality. In total 12 euro for 4 cheap caps which will not be used again. We ate dinner in the bar the food was OK. The bar staff were very nice and friendly. Breakfast was also nice and the staff serving breakfast were nice and friendly. Overall we had a nice stay but I do not think I would return to the Mount Errigal and would prefare to try another hotel.

THE HOTEL IS VERY GOOD TOURING BASE TO EXPLORE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL COUNTY. tHE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.iiT WAS ALSO VERY CHILD FRIENDLY WITH LEISURE FACILITIES IE SWIMMING POOL FOR KIDS PLUS AN NIGHTLY MOVIE SHOWN EACH NIGHT. THE FOOD WAS OF GOOD QUALITY AND WELL PRESENTED. H. OWEVER OUR ROOM WAS NOT SERVICED DAILY AND BASIC SANITTATION IE FLIES IN ROOMS IN DINING AREAS AROUND FOOD LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED. tHIS WAS ACCELERATED FURTHER WITH VARIOUS FIRE EXITS AND DOORS BEING LEFT OPEN THROUGHOUT THE DAY. tHERE WAS LITTLE EVIDENCE TO SUGGEST THIS PROBLEM WAS BEING TACKLED PROPERLY. 2 OUT OF 5

just back from a lovely relaxing break, the swimming pool was great, loved the kids play time, the bar and restaurant, had friendly staff, with good service, the room was large and airy, plenty off space for us.the only problem we had was minor, there was no remote control for the television,we asked at reception five times and were told each time that housekeeping had it at the top of there list,we never got it ,this i found annoying and nobody listened to us,in our case its the little things that matter and because of this felt the service at reception was poor, but an enjoyable break

by Angie We stayed for 1 night only. Hotel very clean, although old fashioned. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely. Leisure centre was great.

Angie scored 2 / 5 on 03/04/2013

No complaint about the room, the service the food or staff, however I was shocked about the behaviour of other guests and parents who obviously left their children alone in their rooms so they could go off drinking in the bar. Children as young as 6 years old were running and screaming down the hallways throughout the night through to 2-3am in the morning. On the first night I stayed I did not complain as there was a wedding on and I assumed it was guests returning to their rooms, however it was pretty obvious on the 2nd night that this was not the case. I think it is a disgrace that parents have such little regard not only for other guests staying at the hotel but also for their own children. Hotel were good enough to put on a movie for children at 7pm each night unsupervised. Some parents took that to mean that they did not have to stay to look after their own children, that they could leave them in a room with strangers and go to the pub to drink. I felt sorry for Hotel Staff who had to deal with this type of behaviour, however I would recommend if you put on movies for kids that you insist that there is at least 1 parent present!! End of Rant!!

Elachamp scored 1 / 5 on 02/04/2013

Room was terrible, uncomfortable beds, very small beds not suitable for 2 adults, room was dirty, food was terrible. The hotel would not stay with the charge that we booked with LIDL. On website it clearly states the just pay for childrens breakfast. they over charged and only after a big fight agreed to refund but still charged full price for breakfast for a 3 year old and a baby who ate no breakfast there.... Very unreasonable. Reservation manager very unhelpful.

“shamefull Reviewed 15 November 2012 1 person found this review helpful ive heard about this hotel before booking so we decided to stay there while visiting Letterkenny.we got a nice welcome when we arrived, I requested a room close to reception which we didn't get, the room we got was 359 the first thing we noticed was the filt of the carpet and the bed covers were like something that was dragged around the floor,a musty smell like someone was smoking in the room, this hotel could do with a visit from the Brennin brothers lack of furniture for storing clothes and travel items .the noise coming from above kept us awake where as we were hoping to relax and have a good sleep. We shared 1 chair which is not good enough, the first morning the breakfast was cold which I couldn't finish, On a + note the staff were friendly and helpfull, I hope it improves otherwise we wont be staying here again. Room Tip: The room advertised on the web site isn't what we got which we were hoping for.

Hi stayed for 2 nights, the room was very small, had two kids 10 and 13 and the beds were very small. Had expected two single beds in a family room, they did not have any other type rooms when I rang reception to see if we could move to a bigger room. The lockers in the changing rooms of the leisure centre did not have any locks so could not leave watches etc in there, had to go back to room. The pool was full of chlorine and the water was cloudy on our second morning, was told it was air locked and sorted but would take some time to clear. The tiles around the edge of the pool were very uneven, my son stubbed his toe on them. The food for breakfast was very good, we did not eat otherwise in the hotel. The hotel would need to updated before I would return.

Lovely Hotel, very nice Staff, Food wonderful, leisure centre great, BUT our room was small more like a single, shower not great and on first night mattress was passed it best, compained next morning and we were moved, so that was good. would I stay again for the deal I got, Yes, BUT other wise no. Oh and if you don't like shareing your space with kids, then don't stay in this hotel, if you have kids it seems good, well set up for their needs. Best bit Food! worst bit Mattress! 4 Stars for Food!

Eve scored 3 / 5 on 04/08/2012

Staff are very friendly and helpful in general, however I was nearly 10mins waiting for a highchair at breakfast. The hotel is nice but could do with some of the carpets being replaced. The lesuire centre is well equipped however the tiles around the pool are very slippy and many are broken which makes it very dangerous for small children. Food is excellent.

Stayed in the mount errigal last week for two nights.,two adults, one child. Very musty smell in en-suite like stale water. Beds comfortable.Found the male staff in the bar serving food very unfriendly and smart on the first evening so we did not eat in the hotel the second evening..I would rate this hotel as a poor three star but it being a lidl break it worked out good value. Lets say I would have no desire to stay there again.

We had a very bad experience at this hotel. We stayed there on the weekend of the 13th/14th July. On the Friday night people were shouting in the corridors and very loud all through the night and a room across the hall came back at 4:30am and decided to have a party in their room until 6:30-7am when staff asked them to stop. We got no sleep on the Friday night and we asked to move rooms. The Saturday night wasn't as bad but again people were coming back to their rooms at 2:30am with no consideration for other guests. We have 2 kids under 3 so I would not recommend this hotel if you have children or if there is a wedding taking place at the hotel. On a positive note, the staff were very good and the food in the restaurant was also good. The leisiure centre is also nice and we had a good time there with the kids.

We loved it, everything was the top-notch: hearty meals, pretty good WI-FI connection, hot sauna and of course famously friendly Donegal people. Thank you guys very much!

On arrival we were told we could not check in until 3 o clock which would have been nice to know since we arrived at 12 o clock.Thankfully the room was ready so we were allowed to check in by the friendly receptionist.Room was clean and tidy. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin and privacy is not an option. The neighbours left there ensuite fan running all night which was annoying. On the other side of the hall we were treated to a 15 minute moaning session (if you catch my drift!) which we had to keep the kids occupied in our room to mask the noise. The fire alarm went off at 11:30 that night and then at 07:40 the next morning. Not one of our best hotel stays and most likely will not be returning.

Was not very happy with this hotel at all. Food for kids came out too quickly which means its already made and they just heat it up plus chips were burnt. Shower in the room was not working properly water only coming out of 4 holes. No fridge in Room and when you have children a fridge would be useful to keep their milk fresh in hot weather. On first night was woken at 4am someone from wedding party trying to get into their room and on the 2nd night at 3am & 5am, thought they were having a party in the hallway the racket they made.Only half our pre-paid meal arrived and once again the food was burnt. Waited so long for waiter to come back to table husband was going to clear dishes away himself. Asked about desserts and the waiter was away for nearly 15 minutes, by the time he came back we decided we had waited long enough. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone and we are still waiting for the Manager to contact us 4 days later. We gave our complaint and telephone number to receptionist. They obviously dont give a toss about their customers as they have already been paid. Very disappointed!!!! Will not be back!!!

Positives: Nice hotel- Rooms spacious. Good Location. Had meal in Cafe Renaissance and the food was nice. Negatives: Breakfast not nice at all, Bar service terrible. Had to wait for half an hour for a bottle of wine. Had to wait an hour and a half to pay our food bill- which returned twice to us incorrectly. Although the hotel was busy they did not have enough staff to cover the number of guests. Tried to use the leisure facilities which were included in the price- Arrived in at 4:15 and was told that they pool closed at 4:45 and would not open until 12 the following morning which meant that we wouldn't get the opportunity to use the facilities at all due to check out being at 12 the following morning. I know that this was New Years Eve but we stay in a different Hotel every NYE and have never experience these short opening hours, Surely in a hotel like this, this should not be the case.

we done a 3night stay offered with Lidl from 28th June I found that the Hotel was very over rated on the review, I found the hotel Bedroom was shabby the wall paper was falling off the wall,s and the Carpet was very badly stained. the Bathrom tiles the were shabby. we went for our two course Dinner, but was asked to take the Bar Menue and if we wanted to eat in the Restraunt, we would have to Pay %u20AC20 extra. we Paid the %u20AC20 extra the first night as we had travelled a long way, and wanted a relaxing meal. on the next night we tried the Bar menue and was not pleased I dont think that 2 course Dinner would in my expectation be a wrap or a Burger, I was very disappointed with the way they treated us in that respect, as we were paying guests staying in the Hotel. the Restraunt seem to be kept for other people that Booked to come in from outside, I E Birthday Parties. or coach Parties.and the like. the state of the Seating in the Bar/Renaissance Cafe was shocking, and did need a re fit. the staff was very careing, and was willing to help, when asked. but I would never go back to that Hotel again.
